Here is a hot-off-the-press article about the Mirasol Springs project. I have also attached an old map so you can see where the project is. (The map is probably not current with respect to the layout.)

Thank you, Gene. Is there a neighborhood plan to counter?

Patty ---

So far there has been no organized protest movement at the neighborhood level. That would require a group of neighbors (preferably along the western portion of HPR) getting together to lead the charge.

Many of us neighbors out by Westcave regard the Mirasol project as pretty darn good.  It is a far sight better than virtually all of the other projects plaguing HPR.

Thanks for weighing in John. I agree with you about the general aesthetics of the Mirasol development, but are you aware of the enormous amount of water they are asking for?  They plan to withdraw almost 57 acre feet of water per year from the Middle Trinity aquifer, which will almost certainly impact wells and springs in the area.  This fact alone is enough to oppose the development, especially if you live in the area.

Sounds like it is time to organize again. The development, sounds forward thinking and may even be protective of some resources. But- there is always collateral damage. Please, join in to oppose this large of a project. Hamilton Pool is too important to sell out without a fight.

The LCRA straw in the Pedernales upriver from the preserves (they are bad enough downriver) was the last straw for us just as Mirasol Springs will be the last straw for an endangered spring-fed river. Hope

Many people don’t realize that Hamilton Pool itself is primarily fed by a spring underneath. The spring contributes more water to Hamilton Pool than Hamilton Creek, which creates the famous waterfall that pours into the pool. That means the new wells at Mirasol could actually cause Hamilton Pool to go dry—something nobody wants and the SWTCGCD and Hays-Trinity GCD are currently studying.  It’s not just the springs along Roy Creek that need to be protected. Stay tuned.
