Welcome to the Hamilton Birding Community (formerly Hamilton Beginning Birders) email group!

This is a place where birders can report any birds seen, appearing in the greater Hamilton area, Ontario, Canada, or beyond. Discussions can include anything bird related, and is not limited to bird reports only.

Affiliated with the Hamilton Naturalists' Club and its Bird Study Group, this group allows members to share any bird sightings, including those reported across the Hamilton Study Area, a circle with a 25 mile radius centred on Dundurn Castle. This list is a place where birders can report birds seen, assist with identification questions, show photos, share information about anything related to the birding community, and even arrange impromptu birding meetups. Additional identification resources can be found at the Ontario Birds Facebook group or send your questions to hamilton.birds@gmail.com.

If you are interested in learning about birding locations in the Hamilton area, the Hamilton Naturalists' Club's website has a list and an article about where to go birding at different times of year. You can also look through eBird's Hotspot Explorer for the area.

Messages in this group can be from all levels of expertise, ranging from beginner to veteran birders. For a group focused on rare bird reports, please see the Hamilton Birders google group.
