Teams,
Please find attached the updated rule book for the tourney. We made the following changes
Also, if anyone of you can volunteer for umpiring during the SCC games, so we have neutral umpires that will be great and appreciated. Please let us know.
As a reminder, please send your checks for tourney fees and the names of your team members if you haven’t done so yet. We need the names for our electronic scoring. Also we need contact information of the captain and one of your players. Please email that as well.
Finally, we have added an Ipad 2 raffle in the tourney. $5 for each ticket. The winners will be announced on Sun June 9th.
Thanks! Look forward to seeing you all this weekend.

June9th & 10th Draw
Thanks Nikhil. If a kiss or a hug is one of an option for the reward
that it will suggest it better be a female one because I don't swing the other
way :)

Please also send the first and last name of all your team members. This would help prepare our electronic score sheet well in advance.
Thanks,

Subject: SCC Tournament June9th & 10th Draw
Hi Folks,
We wanted to welcome all of you to the Second Annual SCC Cricket Tournament, "SCC Bats For Our Heroes" to be held on June 9th and 10th at Lione Park Stamford CT. Last year with all of your support the tournament exceeded all of our expectations by raising ~$16,000 for the Stamford Police Department. This year the proceeds from the tournament net of costs will be going directly to the Wounded Warrior Project™ (WWP), a non-profit that honors and empowers wounded war veterans. WWP began when several veterans and friends, moved by stories of the first wounded service members returning home from Afghanistan and Iraq , took action to help others in need. What started as a program to provide comfort items to wounded service members has grown into a complete rehabilitative effort to assist warriors as they recover and transition back to civilian life. WWP programs are designed to nurture the mind and body, and encourage economic empowerment. Our club believes that the real tragedy is for a sacrifice to be forgotten; they fought for us it is our chance to bat for them.
So far we have received tremendous support from the Police, Fire & Stamford Veterans group. On June 10th, the day of the semi's and finals these groups will have on display Command Truck, Squad Cars, K-9 Units, Fire Truck, life size Iwo Jima memorial replica, Bag pipe band and Color Guard flag presentation just to name a few items. Just like last year we will have VIP Tents, Music, and many activities for kids and families. The fund raising is off to a strong start with ~$8,000 in the bank, please spread the word and either send us the check or use the link below for donations. All checks should be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. We have enclosed the press release and our preliminary flyer for you to distribute. Please have your tournament entry fees delivered to Nikhil/ Bharani by this Sunday.
Tournament Details
Main Event
This years tournament has 8 teams with 11/ aside and will have a 13 game format. Entry fee is $20/ person per team, fee is for extras as well. SCC will be fielding two teams the Seals and the Rangers. All the rules are enclosed and are subject to change. Nikhil and Bharani worked very hard to figure out all the permutations and combinations but they are not perfect, if you see anything that you feel needs to be changed please contact us or the two of them directly. All tournament related inquiries should go to them as they are the masterminds on the execution.
Home Run Derby
This years tournament will feature a special treat for the teams. Every team that is participating can field one batsmen from their team for this challenge. Even if your team is eliminated you are still in the running for this competition. The batsmen can bring his own bowler or use the SCC assigned bowler. The idea is to give 6 legal deliveries that should be very easy and designed for the hitter to hit a 6 or a 4. Every boundary or sixer will count towards his run total and every miss an out, the batsmen will get 3 outs. The batsmen with the highest total of runs wins. In the event of a tie we will give 3 more balls each. This competition will take place on Sunday sometime in the late morning time frame.
Knock em Dead
For the bowlers we will have a 'knock em dead' challenge. Again every team (even if you are eliminated) gets to pick one bowler for this challenge. Each bowler has to bowl 6 deliveries with a full run up, the bowler with the highest number of wicket knock down wins. If you bowl a wide that counts towards your 6 ball total. This competition will take place on Sunday sometime in the late morning time frame.
There are many more fun things in the works, that we will update you on as the event gets closer. Please invite your friends, families co-workers it will be a carnival atmosphere and as you can see by all the equipment on display it is a unique event where every one can have a great time. It also gives you the rare opportunity to interact with folks like Pasquale Battinelli who is a decorated Korean War Veteran, trust me his stories are way more interesting than anything you could be doing on a Sunday afternoon.
Thanks again for all your support,
Sincerely
Sahul SharmaStamford Cricket Club
