I have a 4-ton ACHP which is running pretty quiet now in the AC mode. In the winter, the same unit runs like a freight train with a huge amount of noise which almost make it impossible to sleep.  I try to dampen the noise by putting in 3 inches of cushion and weighted down with 2 patio bricks and its still noise as heck. Could this be the booster compressor running or is it something else?   Anyone have similar experience?  The 3-ton ACADIA and 3-ton ACHP does not make that kind of noise in the winter or summer.

It is possibe to run each of the compressor modes separately by turning down the TS and then carefully pusing in first the primary one.  After letting that slow down,  push in the primary two.  After slow down - try booster.  All should should about equal if running correctly.

Note that booster only should run below  20 degrees.

put rubber under the unit or under the aluminum feet. I use 1" thick
cork vibration pads.

Please see "noisy system" under the "performance" topic on the
