Late on Christmas day, my wife said to me, is the heat working ?  The upstairs unit (my downstairs unit died 2 years ago).  It seemed to be running constantly, not off and on like usual.  And the air felt cooler than usual.  So I was looking around at things, trying to figure if anything was wrong. The thermostat was at 65 and the house was 65. But It really seemed like something was wrong.  Suddenly the unit went off.  I looked in the electrical panel and the breaker tripped on the outside unit.  So I switched over to emergency heat, reset the breaker, and that's where I am now.  I'd love to figure something out myself before calling in a service guy for $200 and hour...

2 years no heat pump.  One of many disapointments building in 2008-9.
I installed a new unit before Christmas this year-Nordyne Westinghouse.
If anyone is interested in my 4ton with all parts and 2 dead compressors contact via email.
Happy Holidays

Did you install the Field Service Orders available at savemyacadia.org? Most everyone who has done it have full-functioning systems still working.

In my case.  Fwo 1 was applied.  Still blew up.  This was over 2 years ago. Others came after my unit blew.  Too late.

Your compressor is almost certainly fried. You send me this from the obsolete Google group and not
savemyacadia.org so perhaps you did not do the FWO.

Feel free to call tomorrow for me to guide you through some tests.  savemyacadia.org shows a fixed price per hour phone rate for non members and of course allows members to post.

Yes, but that doesn't do me any good.  My fried over two years ago.  What, I'm suppose to sit around with no heat or air for 2 years?  I had to buy a new compressor for $3,000.  Is there anyone going to pay me back for that $10,000 spent on the first one?   I never heard from anyone about fixing anything up until recently.  I guess that I just got screwed.

Please log into savemyacadia.org and look under legal.  A class action suit exists.  I am an expert witness under contract to Rich McCune.

Given that you were on the old Google site - how come you missed my work to design two critical FWO's that do help preserve systems.

Hi,

I'm Jim, I started the google group.  I'm posting in the google group because I CANNOT post a message on the savemyacadia.org group.  Does anyone know why?  What good is the savemyacadia group if you can't post?

I did apply FWO 1 on the my 2nd floor heat pump in Sept 2011 I believe.  And Christmas 2012 it stopped working.  I don't know what is wrong with it.  It could some other problem, I have no idea if the compressor blew, even with FWO 1 installed.  Or if some other problem unrelated to the compressor happened.  But given the Acadia history, who knows.

Thanks,
Jim

Hello jjdecker95,

I was the former owner of a Hallowell all climate heat pump, achp as of seven months ago. The achp came before the Acadia HP.

About seven months ago my unit performed similar to yours. At that time the ac would run constantly. At least that is what appeared. Then all of a sudden it stopped working.

I could not get anyone to service my unit and unfortunately I needed to replace the entire unit. Now I still have a loan due on the Hallowell ACHP and had to purchase a new heating and cooling unit.

In the troubleshooting that I did I found that all of the capacitors had discharged. Also when the Hvac company who replace my ACHP remove it they stated that there was no refrigerant in the unit.

Best of luck.

Our savemyacadia.org allows posting only for people who had paid the $50 to help the org survive when they did the FWO 1.  There are some 350 people who did that. Let me know if you did pay the original requested donation - and if so I will have John activate you account.

I often  field calls and help people through debugging but will only do so if a paid member, and also for HVAC people who want service help - Gabe and myself will allow direct calls at $50/hour.

David

If you did make that initial donation as per the agreement when you accessed the information - you can post and will get responses

Hi David,

I did download and install the FWO 1 in Sept 2011.  I thought I did pay the $50, like a few weeks later, but it certainly is possible I did not pay, I don't remember from 1 year and a half ago.  Can you guys check your records?

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim,

If you paid by Paypal, it might be in your Paypal history.

Our records  show you as a Visitor - which means you did not ;make a contribution even though you did use the FWO.  I am interested in the failure are having = suggest you use the membr signup so you can post info = and both Gabe and I will be glad to help.

Hi all,

I have an update.  I finally got an HVAC guy over to my house.  The compressors on both units are dead.  The first one just died on its own.  The second one, I did install the FWO, but it failed anyway.

Anyway I bought 2 Goodman 4 ton 16 seer heat pumps as replacements.  They were $1817 each no tax no delivery.  I bought them online, just search around.  The guy charged me $250 each to install them.

Good luck.
