There is still work to be done with the site, so please be patient.
Thanks John for all of the hard work on the site!

I know it is going to take a little getting used to, and I'm guessing
a lot of people don't want to switch to the savemyacadia.org forum.
Hopefully everyone will join and switch. Now there is a whole Legal
topic just for people who care about legal issues.

Honestly I see no reason to switch. We are all here already and the
google group works fine for me. If anything, we could have a website
which hosts all the relevant info and documentation. Put the FWO info
and Acadia manuals up there for starters. We really need an FAQ
written for new visitors (I have no time to do this on my own).

I think it's great. All the information is in one location and organized. With the google group there was too many different links to follow with no organization. I will definitely follow savemyacadia.org

Hi all,

I have been on the new site. It has MANY subforums for different
topics. Once we get used to it, and it gets a fair amount of info, I
believe it will be a huge advantage. I have been following this site
from close to the beginning. It has been invaluable. BUT threads get
long and confusing, it is VERY hard to find past posts, and a newcomer
would have a very hard time finding useful info.

My suggestion- Any ideas about how to transfer info from this site to
the new site? If the best info from this site could have the
organization of the new site, truly we would have the best of both
worlds.

Thanks. Gene

I plan to go through the Google group topics and get a bunch of useful
discussions and paste them by category on the new site. Once there is
more content, it will be a very nice upgrade AND the site should be
easier for people to find. Like many, i find useful info hard to find
and as a result, new members often ask questions previously
discussed. People looking to just discuss legal won't have to sift
through technical discussions and so on. I also think we won't have
to deal with all of the spam posts.

There are several reasons to switch:

1. As you pointed out it can host all relevant documentation that
people have; be it photos of their units (i.e. with icing issues) or
manuals that Hallowell released over the years in an easy accessible
way
2. All How-To Videos are available to watch right on the sight and
are group together so there is no need to search this forum to try to
find the one you're looking for
3. Message posts will be more manageable since they will be kept
under the proper topics. If something is posted in the wrong
location a moderator can move it to the right place
4. It will support an on-line ordering system (via pay pal) for parts
that Gabe will be selling (i.e. start capacitors) as well as
additional FWO releases
5. It will support an on-line chat module
6. If HVAC companies can find the information they need to support
their customers in one place hopefully more of them will come on board
and get back to servicing these units.

The site just got started so I'm sure there is going to be a slight
learning curve getting used to it for everyone that signs into it.
I'm also sure we're going to hit a few bumps in the road to begin with
as we get started with it. Overall though, I think it should end up
being the only destination that someone that has one of these units
will need to go to. They'll be able to find all their information and
support that they require. Hopefully we'll also be able to build up
a contact list of HVAC companies that are willing to support these
units in the field. Considering that this forum has been around for
maybe 6 months it's getting very tough to sort through all the
information that's already out here. The website should hopefully
help with that. Any suggestions to how to improve the site can be
entered in the ticket system found on the web site.

If anyone wants to cut and paste anything you've posted that would be
helpful on the new site go ahead. Its taking me a while to sift
through for helpful discussions. Not a big surprise a lot of useful
posts are hard to find. Thanks!

We now have a downloads page with several helpful manuals on the
site. The complete forum on the savemyacadia.org site has a lot of
well organized topics that are easy to follow. Hope to see more of
you there soon!
