There are several reasons to switch:
1. As you pointed out it can host all relevant documentation that
people have; be it photos of their units (i.e. with icing issues) or
manuals that Hallowell released over the years in an easy accessible
way
2. All How-To Videos are available to watch right on the sight and
are group together so there is no need to search this forum to try to
find the one you're looking for
3. Message posts will be more manageable since they will be kept
under the proper topics. If something is posted in the wrong
location a moderator can move it to the right place
4. It will support an on-line ordering system (via pay pal) for parts
that Gabe will be selling (i.e. start capacitors) as well as
additional FWO releases
5. It will support an on-line chat module
6. If HVAC companies can find the information they need to support
their customers in one place hopefully more of them will come on board
and get back to servicing these units.
The site just got started so I'm sure there is going to be a slight
learning curve getting used to it for everyone that signs into it.
I'm also sure we're going to hit a few bumps in the road to begin with
as we get started with it. Overall though, I think it should end up
being the only destination that someone that has one of these units
will need to go to. They'll be able to find all their information and
support that they require. Hopefully we'll also be able to build up
a contact list of HVAC companies that are willing to support these
units in the field. Considering that this forum has been around for
maybe 6 months it's getting very tough to sort through all the
information that's already out here. The website should hopefully
help with that. Any suggestions to how to improve the site can be
entered in the ticket system found on the web site.
