I would also add that we now have a big CNC router and manual mill in the shop, if I'm not too busy I can run jobs for the maker in residence. Maker in residence also has access to our stock of off cuts and our full exhibits team if we are not too busy. We have lots coming up in the next year but sometimes its nice to take a break from big projects to make parts for someone else.
If you really perk my interest with your project I can also bring stuff home to turn on my metal lathes. This would be on my own time. I have a big monarch lathe with 18.5" swing and 78" between centers. I also still have my mini lathe for doing smaller parts.
It's a great opportunity if you have a really neat project to build. We have the resources to build just about anything here now.
Our first Maker in Residence, Kyle, built a Arduino controlled acrylic telescope.
Thanks
Chris
