sewing machine tuneup?

Our 35+ year old, lightly used, Singer sewing machine could use a tune up. The timing seems off a bit. 

Any recommendations? I assume it's not a DIY undertaking.

Although this video: https://youtu.be/K37bnxHJv9Y, despite being filmed with a potato, suggests I could do some servicing myself.

Lori says Sew With Vision on Parkland. They work with ?Bridgewater Sewing?, who do sewing machine repair on the road as far as New Brunswick, and are awesome.
