Hey all,
A few years ago, the NSBA started a little addition to their newsletter/website featuring prominent local beekeepers. I seem to remember ones on Tom Cosman, Tony Phillips, Kevin Spicer, amongst others. (Actually, I just found the webpage: https://nsbeekeepers.ca/profilesDetail.php?15 ) I loved the section since it gave information about people that I only knew of from interactions through the NSBA. Unfortunately, I only got similar glimpses into the life and experience of Alex Crouse from his recent obit.
After our last online meeting, Stan Cameron wrote a long letter telling me about his own experiences both in Ireland and Canada spanning some 50 years. Some of you probably already know Stan from his attendance at NSBA over the years. He lives out Purcell’s Cove way.
I asked Stan whether I could share the letter and have attached it here. It is a wonderfully written, very personal view of beekeeping, offering suggestions based on his own experiences.
What do people think about starting a section of our own webpage offering personal views of our prominent beekeepers in HRM? Stan’s could be a start. I would also love to hear more from Kori MacCara, Duncan Wetzel and Barry Yhard. Perhaps Michelle could also share information about her background and experiences.
Thoughts?
