Debbie Nielsen was the last one to report having the extractor. She took it apart and thought that the bearings for the handle assembly were shot. She looked up a source for replacement parts for the brand of extractor. (Big thanks to Debbie for all that!) I am wondering whether this has been an ongoing problem, since the extractor has never worked well if honey accumulates in the bottom and causes drag on the basket. I found in the past that one needed to constantly empty the extractor so that there was never more than a few inches of honey at a time.
I guess that the next step is to have the Society decide whether we have available funds and whether buying the parts will be covered. If so, maybe you would like to first look at the extractor to give your own assessment and if you agree with Debbie to buy the part and make the repairs. Does this seem reasonable?
