hi mark,

i was wondering if you were considering a minor
2.0.2 release to maven central in the near future?

only a few commits in the release, but there was a particular pull request that you merged last week that i'd like to utilize

no problem if you're not though, i can always build or release the latest somewhere myself

...and thank you for halbuilder by the way

I can certainly do that!  I was thinking of doing so anyway - you may have noticed a few commits recently on a feature branch, and some new repositories as well:
These changes have come from feedback from some users, and also my own desire to further modularize - esp. since the JSON representation of HAL seems to be moving forward/changing whilst the XML format is somewhat languishing. With both JSON and XML in the halbuilder-core artifact, I've been pushing for fidelity and consistency between both implementations and thus hanging back on some pull requests from people.

By breaking these out to their own repositories/artifacts they gain there own release cadence, and can effectively evolve independently, as long as the core API for HalBuilder doesn't break.

I think this is a good start so any feedback greatly welcome.  Currently the (one) integration test in halbuilder-core is disabled as without any JSON/XML support, there's little point to having an IT test there so I may move that out to a separate IT test repository and have that serve as examples in various languages.

In summary:
  • If you're only using JSON, maven dependencies would now be on halbuilder-json rather than halbuilder-core, and use JsonRepresentationFactory, and update it's configuration to use your new ISOJsonRepresentationWriter which customizes Jackson.
I'm thinking I'll make this release as a 2.1.1, as it doesn't break USAGE of HalBuilder, but it does change how one configures and creates the RepresentationFactory.

I'll look at pushing out a 2.0.2 this evening when I get home ( it's my birthday tomorrow so out celebrating with family ).

sounds good.

i'm only interested in the JSON implementation for now, so the direction you're taking the library appears perfect for my purposes

thanks
