Hi all,

This will be an effort to compile and answer the most FAQs about our project. This can help clarify most of the issues (especially the technical ones) that people have with using Halalan. For now, these FAQs will be classified as Development FAQs and Deployment FAQs, the former geared a bit more toward the tech-savvy users while the latter is for the people who will be trying to administer an election using Halalan.

Everyone is encouraged to post. You can just post questions if you want but you can also post questions that you have answers to. It would also be nice if you would label your posts as to which classification it falls under for easier sorting. If you're unsure about where it lies then it can be deliberated upon before the first public release of these FAQs. Questions relating on how to use Halalan might be included as well but these might be redundant as we already have a user's manual.

Hi, here are some I came up with. I guess we shouldn't be too strict with the classifications (sorry about that), so you can just post any and all questions that you have encountered (and answered) while using Halalan.

*I always get the error message 'It seems like your database settings are misconfigured', what am I doing wrong?*

Check your db configuration. Make sure that you have the right username and password, and make sure that the database you entered exists.

*After I login, all I get is a blank white screen, what's up?*

Check your halalan.php config file. Make sure that there are no blank spaces or extra newlines after the closing php tag.

*I can't upload photos/logos/import voters!*

Make sure that you have write permissions on your uploads folder.

Should be: 'Make sure that your web server has write permissions on
your uploads folder'

Sorry about that.

By the way guys, I've also made a page for the FAQs on Halalan's website. You can find it at http://halalan.uplug.org/documentation/halalan-faqs/

Not much stuff in there yet, hopefully we'll get more soon.
