Hi!

I just found out about your great software and we were considering of
using it for our general elections. Anyway, I would just like to ask
a few things regarding Halalan, as I will first test it in a web
server for evaluation.

Ok, so I've entered my database details in database.php, went to the
instalation screen, and it then gave me admin credentials and a block
of code which I would save as halalan.php. The problem is that when I
want to go to the admin log in screen, it says that it cannot connect
to the database but then when I phpmyAdmin the database, all the
tables are there (asbtain, etc.)

Any idea on what the problem might be? Thanks!

The exact message reads:

A Database Error Occurred

Unable to connect to your database server using the provided settings.

Please make sure that Halalan was installed properly.

If you haven't installed Halalan yet, please install it now.

But I've checked and rechecked my dbase details (using PHP version
5.2.9 and MySQL version 5.0.67 by the way) and it's correct.

Hello there.

Did you save halalan.php in system/applications/config/ ?

Does the admins table has an entry?

Yes, I saved halalan.php in system/applications/config/ and I even
CHMODed it to 777 (well, I just thought this one had the problem).

Yes, the admins table contains an entry. In it is an ID no (1), my
email address, a password hash, and my first and last names.

Thanks for replying by the way. I would really like to test out this
great program.

For now, you can try this live demo for the latest stable release:
https://unplug.eee.upd.edu.ph/halalan/release/
Credentials: admin/admin

The database is refreshed twice a week so you don't have to worry
about modifying the data.
