Once I wrote an article titled ... "Slaves are humans too". That was a comprehensive answer to the question of this un-believer .... He wrote ... this...

"If slavery is not permitted in Islam, where would you get the male and female slaves from to
marry? Do slaves remain slaves after they are married by free men and women?Why Allah told Muhammad that his slaves were halal for him, if slavery was disbanded by him?

During the advent of Islam whole of Arabia was engrossed in (Hindu / Buddhist) paganism. It was was called the era of Darkness in human history. Arabs were worshiping more than 360 deities like what we find in Hindu and Buddhist temples today. If I assume Asghar to be a Hindu, he should very well know this. 

At this era owning slaves were the norm. Bilal (R) was such a slave. They had a status no different to an animal. Their masters could do anything to them and no one would bother about it. To this injustice came the Prophet of Mercy. He declared that "Slaves are humans too" and this reverberated the pagans like an earth quake. THey started attacking the prophet (S) for this declaration. He kept his defense of these slaves and Allah thru' the means of revelation in the Quran eradicated this human injustice and restored their humanity back to them. 

Before I explain how .... remember many centuries later the whites brought this slavery back to life in their countries. Blacks in America, Britain and Europe were such victims. 

Yes, when Islam allowed polygamy (Multiple wives) for men it didn't abolish slavery altogether at once. It did it in the most beautiful way as it abolished intoxicants (Alcohol). Had Allah commanded the believers to release the slaves the believers would have responded immediately. But the wisdom of Allah is far above our wisdom. Slaves were illiterate. They were all separated from their kith and kin. Had they been released free on the streets they would have strayed in to hunger and suffering for they knew no skills nor had they means to survive. So Allah permitted their Masters to have intimate relationship with them while being married to their wives but with the promise to take care of their off-springs. This was the first step towards their freedom. Eventually children of slaves became part of their society and as they grew up they were able to take care of their mothers when they freed them from bondage. 

Islam also invited Muslims to give their daughters in marriage to believing slave men which it said is far better than marrying them to unbelieving affluent men. So another section of slaves obtained their freedom over a period. 

Another way was to free a slave as ransom or expiation for a major sin. Gradually slaves were gradually merged in to the Muslim society as free human beings. Such freed slaves even held posts of Governors under the Khilafa. Bilal was a typical slave turned human who was held the most high position in Islam. He is one of the ten who were promised Jennah while they were living with the prophet (S). Islam measures the status of a human not thru' their pedigree or the wealth they posses but thru' their piety, sincerity and humbleness in front of God Almighty.

I only took the subject in brief. Slavery was completely wiped out by Islam wherever it set foot never to raise its head again. So the permissibility of marrying the ones "your right hand possesses" meaning slaves is no more required in a Islamic society. So your argument such an issue is worthless.

This is why we say Islam has solutions to all situations. Islam has simple solution to AIDS too. Follow the rule of limiting "Sex" within marriage only. Punish who commit sex out of wedlock. Simple. This is why Muslims are effected least in AIDS epidemic and other social diseases contracted thru' brothels and illicit relationships. 

I also explained how Islam eradicated alcoholism gradually never to raise its head again. So Islam is the way forward for the sick world.  The world of un-believers are struggling today to reduce alcohol usage but it keeps going upwards. As we know the root most crimes is ALCOHOL. Every religion prohibits it but only Islam saw success in it.

I know the Hindu Asghar and Buddhist Janaka will never consider my answer. But remember my audience are the other thousands of sensible members of this forum. I only use the foolish questions of these pagans to carry my message to others.

I too wish to know the answers to these three  questions.
Slavery was detested by all right thinking people everywhere through the ages.  It is the reason why in ancient Rome, the Thracian Gladiator led a slave rebellion against the Romans.

I am no Christian but as far as I am aware Jesus Christ never endorsed slavery

I wonder why only Alam is responding to Asghar. We wish if at least few other Muslims in the forum would also comment on these issues
