According to Islamic tradition, having ascended to heaven and dwelled there for 2000+ years, Jesus will descend to earth shortly before Judgement Day, in the midst of wars fought against al-Masih ad-Dajjal ('The False Messiah") and his followers, to come to the aid of the Mahdi and his Muslim followers.^[82] Dressed in saffron robes with his head anointed, Jesus will descend at the point of a white minaret, in eastern Damascus, which is believed to be the Minaret of Isa in the Umayyad Mosque.^[83] He will then greet the Mahdi and (being a Muslim) pray beside him. Eventually, Jesus will slay the Dajjal at Lod.

Afterwards, he will "break the cross, kill the pigs, and abolish the Jizya tax", according to a well-known Sahih al-Bukhari hadith.^[85][86] "The usual interpretation" of this prophecy is that, being a Muslim, Jesus will put a stop to Christian worship of himself and in belief in his divinity, "symbolized by the cross". He will re-establish the Kosher/Halal dietary laws abandoned by Christianity;^[87] and because Jews and Christians will now all reject their former faith and accept Islam, there will be no more need for the jizya tax on unbelievers.^[88] (According to one hadith, Jesus will "destroy the churches and temples and kill the Christians unless they believe in him.")^{[89][note 1]}

Piṉṉar, avar"ciluvaiya

Islamic texts also allude to the reappearance of the ancient menace Gog and Magog (Yaʾjūj Maʾjūj), which will break out of its underground confinement and cause havoc around the world.^[91] God, in response to Jesus' prayers, will kill them by sending a type of worm in the napes of their necks, and send large birds to carry and clear their corpses from the land.^[82] After the death of the Mahdi, Jesus will assume world leadership and peace and justice will be universal.

Also according to tradition, Jesus will then marry, have children, and rule the world for forty years (traditions give many different time periods) after which he will die.^[92] Some Muslims believe that the Muslims will then perform the funeral prayer for him and then bury him at the Green Dome in the city of Medina in a grave left vacant beside Muhammad, Abu Bakr, and Umar respectively.^[93] According to Ibn Khaldun's legend, the two caliphs will rise from the dead between the two prophets.^[94]

Jesus is mentioned about 187 times in the Quran, directly and indirectly, and also referred to by many titles, the most common being al-Masīḥ ('the Messiah').^{[3][108][109][110][28]} Jesus is referred to 25 times by the name Isa,^{[note 2]} 48 times in the third-person,^{[note 3]} 35 times in the first-person, and is mentioned the remaining times by various titles in the Quran.^{[note 4][111]}

Muhammad described himself as the "nearest of all people to Jesus".^[112]

4:157-That they said (in boast) "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary the Apostle of Allah"; but they killed him not nor crucified him but so it was made to appear to them and those who differ therein are full of doubts with no (certain) knowledge but only conjecture to follow for of a surety they killed him not. 663

4:157. மேலும், ‘‘அல்லாஹ்வுடைய தூதர், மர்யமுடைய மகன் ஈஸா மஸீஹை நிச்சயமாக நாம் (சிலுவையில் அறைந்து) கொலை செய்துவிட்டோம்'' என்று அவர்கள் கூறியதனாலும் (அவர்களைச் சபித்தோம்). அவரை அவர்கள் கொலை செய்யவும் இல்லை. அவரை அவர்கள் சிலுவையில் அறையவும் இல்லை. 4:158-Nay Allah raised him up unto Himself; and Allah is Exalted in Power Wise. 664

4:158. எனினும், அல்லாஹ் அவரைத் தன் அளவில் உயர்த்திக்கொண்டான். அல்லாஹ் (அனைவரையும்) மிகைத்தவனாக, ஞானமுடையவனாக இருக்கிறான்.

4:157. மேலும், ‘‘அல்லாஹ்வுடைய தூதர், மர்யமுடைய மகன் ஈஸா மஸீஹை நிச்சயமாக நாம் (சிலுவையில் அறைந்து) கொலை செய்துவிட்டோம்'' என்று அவர்கள் கூறியதனாலும் (அவர்களைச் சபித்தோம்). அவரை அவர்கள் கொலை செய்யவும் இல்லை. அவரை அவர்கள் சிலுவையில் அறையவும் இல்லை. (அவர் இருந்த அறைக்குள் அவரைத் தேடிச் சென்றவன் அவரைப்போல் ஆக்கப்பட்டு விட்டான். தேடிச்சென்ற மற்றவர்கள் அவனையே சிலுவையில் அறைந்தனர். இதனால்) அவர்கள் சந்தேகத்திற்குள்ளாக்கப்பட்டு விட்டனர். ஆகவே, எவர்கள் இதற்கு மாறான அபிப்பிராயம் கொண்டிருக்கிறார்களோ அவர்கள் வீண் சந்தேகத்திலேயே ஆழ்ந்துவிட்டனர். வீண் சந்தேகத்தைப் பின்பற்றுவதைத் தவிர அதில் அவர்களுக்கு உண்மையான ஞான (ஆதார)ம் கிடையாது. நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் அவரைக் கொலை செய்யவே இல்லை.

43:61-And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour) but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way. 4662

43:61. நிச்சயமாக (வரவிருக்கும்) மறுமைக்குரிய அத்தாட்சிகளில் அவரும் ஓர் அத்தாட்சியாவார். ஆகவே, நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள் இதில் சந்தேகிக்க வேண்டாம். என்னையே பின்பற்றி நடங்கள். இதுவே நேரான வழி

5:116-And behold! Allah will say "O Jesus the son of Mary! didst thou say unto men `worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of Allah"? He will say: "Glory to Thee! never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing Thou wouldst indeed have known it. Thou knowest what is in my heart though I know not what is in Thine. For Thou knowest in full all that is hidden. 829

5:116. அல்லாஹ் (மறுமை நாளில் ஈஸாவை நோக்கி), ‘‘மர்யமுடைய மகன் ஈஸாவே! அல்லாஹ்வுடன் என்னையும், என் தாயையும் இரு கடவுள்களாக எடுத்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள் என்று மனிதர்களை நோக்கி நீர் கூறினீரா?'' என்று கேட்பான் என்பதையும் ஞாபகமூட்டுவீராக. அதற்கு அவர் கூறுவார்: ‘‘நீ மிகப் பரிசுத்தமானவன். எனக்கு ஒரு சிறிதும் தகாததை நான் ஒருபோதும் கூறமாட்டேன். அவ்வாறு நான் கூறியிருந்தால் நிச்சயமாக நீ அதை அறிந்திருப்பாயே! என் உள்ளத்திலுள்ளதை நீ நன்கறிவாய். உன் உள்ளத்திலுள்ளதை நான் அறியமாட்டேன். நிச்சயமாக நீதான் மறைவானவை அனைத்தையும் நன்கறிபவன்

61:6-And remember Jesus the son of Mary said: "O Children of Israel! I am the apostle of Allah (sent) to you confirming the Law (which came) before me and giving glad Tidings of an Apostle to come after me whose name shall be Ahmad." But when he came to them with Clear Signs they said "This is evident sorcery!" 5436 5437 5438 5439

61:6. மர்யமுடைய மகன் ஈஸா (இஸ்ராயீலின் சந்ததிகளை நோக்கி) ‘‘இஸ்ராயீலின் சந்ததிகளே! மெய்யாகவே நான் உங்களிடம் அனுப்பப்பட்ட அல்லாஹ்வுடைய ஒரு தூதர் ஆவேன். நான் எனக்கு முன்னுள்ள தவ்றாத்தையும் உண்மைப் படுத்துகிறேன். எனக்குப் பின்னர் ‘அஹ்மது' என்னும் பெயர் கொண்ட ஒரு தூதர் வருவதைப் பற்றியும் நான் உங்களுக்கு நற்செய்தி கூறுகிறேன்'' என்று கூறியதை (நபியே! நீர் அவர்களுக்கு) ஞாபகமூட்டுவீராக. (அவர் அறிவித்தவாறு அத்தூதர்) தெளிவான அத்தாட்சிகளுடன் அவர்களிடம் வந்த (இச்)சமயத்தில் (அவரை நம்பிக்கை கொள்ளாது,) இது தெளிவான சூனியம் என்று அவர்கள் கூறுகின்றனர்.

43:61-And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour) but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way. 4662

43:61. நிச்சயமாக (வரவிருக்கும்) மறுமைக்குரிய அத்தாட்சிகளில் அவரும் ஓர் அத்தாட்சியாவார். ஆகவே, நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள் இதில் சந்தேகிக்க வேண்டாம். என்னையே பின்பற்றி நடங்கள். இதுவே நேரான வழி.

59:7-And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour) but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way. 5379 5380 5381

  59:7. அவ்வூராரிடம் இருந்தவற்றில் அல்லாஹ் தன் தூதருக்குக் கொடுத்தவை அல்லாஹ்வுக்கும், அவனுடைய தூதருக்கும், அவருடைய உறவினர்களுக்கும், அனாதைகளுக்கும், ஏழைகளுக்கும், வழிப்போக்கர்களுக்கும் உரித்தானதாகும். செல்வம் உங்களிலுள்ள பணக்காரர்களுக்கிடையில் மட்டுமே சுற்றிக் கொண்டிருக்காமல் (மற்றவர்களுக்கும் கிடைக்கும் பொருட்டு, இவ்வாறு பொருளைப் பங்கிடும்படி கட்டளையிடுகிறான்.) ஆகவே, நம் தூதர் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்ததை நீங்கள் (மனமுவந்து) எடுத்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள். அவர் எதை விட்டும் உங்களைத் தடுத்தாரோ, அதைவிட்டு நீங்கள் விலகிக் கொள்ளுங்கள். (இவ்விஷயத்தில்) நீங்கள் அல்லாஹ்வுக்குப் பயந்து நடந்து கொள்ளுங்கள். நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ் கடும் தண்டனை தருபவனாவான்.

3:55- Behold! Allah said: "O Jesus! I will take thee and raise thee to Myself and clear thee (of the falsehoods) of those who blaspheme; I will make those who follow thee superior to those who reject Faith to the Day of Resurrection; then shall ye all return unto Me and I will judge between you of the matters wherein ye dispute. 394 395 396 397

3:55. (ஈஸாவை நோக்கி) அல்லாஹ் கூறியதை (அவர்களுக்கு) ஞாபகப்படுத்துவீராக!: ‘‘ஈஸாவே நிச்சயமாக நான் உமக்கு (உமது) ஆயுளை முழுமைப்படுத்துவேன். உம்மை நம்மளவில் உயர்த்திக்கொள்வேன். நிராகரிப்பவர்களி(ன் அவதூறி)லிருந்து உங்களைப் பரிசுத்தமாக்கிவைப்பேன். உங்களைப் பின்பற்றுபவர்களை நிராகரிப்பவர்கள் மீது இறுதி நாள்வரை மேலாக்கியும் வைப்பேன்'' (என்று கூறி, ஈஸாவே! அந்நிராகரிப்பவர்களை நோக்கி, நான் கூறியதாக நீர் கூறுவீராக: ‘‘அல்லாஹ்வாகிய) என்னிடமே நீங்கள் மீண்டும் வருவீர்கள். நீங்கள் தர்க்கித்துக் கொண்டிருப்பவற்றைப் பற்றி (அந்நேரத்தில்) நான் உங்களுக்கிடையில் தீர்ப்பளிப்பேன்'' (என்றும் கூறினான்.)

5:117-"Never said I to them aught except what Thou didst command me to say to wit `Worship Allah my Lord and your Lord'; and I was a witness over them whilst I dwelt amongst them; when Thou didst take me up thou wast the Watcher over them and Thou art a Witness to all things. 83

5:117. நீ எனக்கு ஏவியபடியே நான் (அவர்களை நோக்கி), ‘‘நீங்கள் எனக்கும் உங்களுக்கும் இறைவனாகிய அல்லாஹ்வையே வணங்குங்கள்'' என்றுதான் கூறினேன். தவிர, வேறொன்றையும் (ஒருபோதும்) நான் கூறவில்லை. நான் அவர்களுடன் இருந்த வரை அவர்களின் செயலை நான் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்தேன். நீ என்னைக் கைப்பற்றிய பின்னர் நீதான் அவர்களைக் கவனித்தவனாக இருந்தாய். அனைத்திற்கும் நீயே சாட்சி.

19:33-"So Peace is on me the day I was born the day that I die and the Day that I shall be raised up to life (again)"! 2485

19:33. நான் பிறந்த நாளிலும், நான் மரணிக்கும் நாளிலும் (மறுமையில்) நான் உயிருள்ளவராக எழுப்பப்படும் நாளிலும், என்மீது ஸலாம் உண்டாகுக!'' (என்றும் அக்குழந்தை கூறியது).

3:52-When Jesus found unbelief on their part he said: "Who will be my helpers to (the work of) Allah?" Said the Disciples: "We are Allah's helpers we believe in Allah and do thou bear witness that we are Muslims. 392

3:52. அவர்களில் பலர் (தம்மை) நிராகரிப்பதை ஈஸா உணர்ந்த பொழுது (அவர்களை நோக்கி) ‘‘அல்லாஹ்வுக்காக எனக்கு உதவி செய்பவர் யார்?'' எனக் கேட்டார். (அதற்கு) அவருடைய தோழர்கள் ‘‘நாங்கள் அல்லாஹ்வுக்காக (உங்களுக்கு) உதவி செய்கிறோம். மெய்யாகவே! அல்லாஹ்வை நாங்கள் நம்பிக்கை கொள்கிறோம். (ஆதலால்,) நிச்சயமாக நாங்கள் (முஸ்லிம்கள்) முற்றிலும் அவனுக்கு வழிப்பட்டோம் என்பதாக நீர் சாட்சி கூறுவீராக' என்று கூறினார்கள்

3:53-"Our Lord! we believe in what thou hast revealed and we follow the Apostle; then write us down among those who bear witness

3:53. ‘‘எங்கள் இறைவனே! நீ அருட்செய்த (வேதத்)தை நாங்கள் நம்புகிறோம். (உன்) இத்தூதரையும் நாங்கள் பின்பற்றி நடக்கிறோம். ஆதலால், (அவரை) உண்மைப்படுத்தியவர்களுடன் எங்களையும் நீ பதிவு செய்து கொள்வாயாக!'' (என்றும் அந்தத் தோழர்கள் பிரார்த்தித்தனர்.)

5:109-One day will Allah gather the apostles together and ask: "What was the response ye received (from men to your teaching)? They will say: "We have no knowledge: it is thou who knowest in full all that is hidden. 81

5:109. (நபியே!) ஒரு நாளில் அல்லாஹ், (தன்) தூதர்களை ஒன்று சேர்த்து ‘‘நீங்கள் எனது தூதை மக்களிடம் எடுத்துரைத்த சமயத்தில்) அவர்கள் உங்களுக்கு என்ன பதில் கூறினார்கள்?'' என்று கேட்பான். அதற்கவர்கள், (‘‘நாங்கள் உயிருடன் இருந்த வரை அவர்களுடைய வெளிக்கோலத்தையே நாங்கள் அறிவோம். அதற்கு மாறாக உள்ளத்தில் உள்ளதையோ, நாங்கள் இறந்தபின் அவர்கள் செய்ததையோ) நாங்கள் அறியமாட்டோம். நிச்சயமாக நீதான் மறைவான அனைத்தையும் நன்கறிந்தவன்'' என்று கூறுவார்கள்.

5:110- Then will Allah say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! recount my favor to thee and to thy mother. Behold! I strengthened thee with the holy spirit so that thou didst speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. Behold! I taught thee the Book and Wisdom the Law and the Gospel. And behold! thou makest out of clay as it were the figure of a bird by My leave and thou breathest into it and it becometh a bird by My leave and thou healest those born blind and the lepers by My leave. And behold! thou bringest forth the dead by My leave. And behold! I did restrain the Children of Israel from (violence to) thee when thou didst show them the Clear Signs and the unbelievers among them said: `This is nothing but evident magic'. 815 816 817 818 820 821 822

5:110. பிறகு அல்லாஹ் (ஈஸாவை நோக்கிக்) கூறுவான்: ‘‘மர்யமுடைய மகன் ஈஸாவே! உம் மீதும், உமது தாய் மீது(ம் நான் புரிந்து)ள்ள என் அருளை நினைத்துப் பார்ப்பீராக. பரிசுத்த ஆத்மாவைக் கொண்டு உமக்கு உதவி புரிந்து (உமது தாயின் பரிசுத்தத் தன்மையைப் பற்றி) நீர் தொட்டில் குழந்தையாக இருந்த சமயத்திலும் (உமது தீர்க்க தரிசனத்தைப் பற்றி) வாலிபத்திலும் உம்மைப் பேசச் செய்ததையும், (நினைத்துப் பார்ப்பீராக.) வேதத்தையும், ஞானத்தையும், தவ்றாத்தையும், இன்ஜீலையும் நான் உமக்குக் கற்பித்ததையும் (நினைத்துப் பார்ப்பீராக). மேலும், நீர் என் கட்டளைப்படி களிமண்ணால் பறவையின் உருவத்தைப் போல் செய்து அதில் நீர் ஊதிய சமயத்தில், அது என் கட்டளையைக் கொண்டு பறவையாக மாறியதையும், பிறவிக் குருடனையும், வெண் குஷ்டரோகியையும் என் உதவியினால் நீர் சுகமாக்கியதையும் (நினைத்துப் பார்ப்பீராக). நீர் என் அருளைக்கொண்டு மரணித்தவர்களை (கல்லறையிலிருந்து உயிர்கொடுத்து) புறப்படச் செய்ததையும் (நினைத்துப் பார்ப்பீராக). இஸ்ராயீலின் சந்ததிகளிடம் நீர் தெளிவான அத்தாட்சிகளைக் கொண்டு வந்தபோது அவர்களில் நிராகரித்தவர்கள் நிச்சயமாக இது சந்தேகமற்ற சூனியத்தைத் தவிர வேறல்ல என்று கூறிய(துடன் உமக்குத் தீங்கிழைக்க முயற்சித்த) சமயத்தில் அவர்(களுடைய தீங்கு)களிலிருந்து நான் உம்மை தடுத்துக் கொண்டதையும் நினைத்துப் பார்ப்பீரா

19:29- But she pointed to the babe. They said: "How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?" 2482

19:29. (அதற்கவர், இதைப் பற்றித் தன் குழந்தையிடம் கேட்கும்படி) அதன் பக்கம் (கையை) ஜாடை காண்பித்தார். அதற்கவர்கள் ‘‘மடியிலிருக்கக்கூடிய சிறு குழந்தையிடம் நாங்கள் எப்படி பேசுவோம்'' என்று கூறினார்கள்.

19:30- He said: "I am indeed a servant of Allah: He hath given me revelation and made me a prophet;

19:30. (இதைச் செவியுற்ற அக்குழந்தை அவர்களை நோக்கிக்) கூறியதாவது: ‘‘நிச்சயமாக நான் அல்லாஹ்வுடைய அடிமை ஆவேன். அவன் எனக்கு வேதத்தைக் கொடுத்து என்னை நபியாகவும் ஆக்குவான்.

41:46- Whoever works righteousness benefits his own soul; whoever works evil it is against his own soul: nor is thy Lord ever unjust (in the least) to His servants.

41:46. எவர் நன்மைகள் செய்கிறாரோ, அது அவருக்கே நன்று. எவர் பாவம் செய்கிறாரோ, அது அவருக்கே கேடாகும். உமது இறைவன் (தன்) அடியார்கள் எவருக்கும் அறவே தீங்கு செய்வதில்லை. (அவர்கள்தான் தமக்குத் தாமே தீங்கிழைத்துக் கொள்கின்றனர்.)
