Assalamu Alaikum,The trail below by the threesome (May Allah have mercy on all of them and may they be steadfast) has some very thought provoking and important points that needs to get enforced and maintained in every member of our community before embarking on any step forward at times of crises that we face today. These are simple common sense that we fail to realize just because we are emotionally attached to some group or obsessed in our own ways of interpretation of religion or infected with ego.Go back and take references only from the early believers (they are the foremost) before the advent of schisms that split the Umma. Realize how important it is not to fall and call oneself belonging to this or that Jama'th. Why call yourself Sunni, Shiaa, Sufi, Hanafee , Salafi, Maliki, Thauhidi, Jamathi, Wahabi etc. Don't label yourself and promote division. A Muslim is a Muslim. The beginning of our depression commences from the time we began forming sects. Now we are in a much better position to view back and learn from our history take lessons and make amends. Therefore wouldn't Allah ask us what contribution we made to correct this mammoth anomaly of division among us?Fazal

Aren't we in the situation that we are in today because we have long ceased to be Islamic? About 7 or 8 decades ago, we were highly respected because we were truthful and honest and virtually acted us bankers for the others, the Sinhalese in particular, who entrusted their savings to our forefathers which was returned to them, whenever they asked for it, with a share of the profit that was earned by utilising that money in business. No need to compare with the present lot of us.Will Allah(Swt) Help those who have forgotten Him and His Prophet(Sal)? Is our present state any different from that of those who are attacking us except in our appearance and rituals? If at all, it can only be worse. So, what do we do other than seek the help of man by speaking a language he understands by way of protests, demonstrations etc.?By the way, during the time we were respected because of our Islamic behaviour, there were a handful of Masjids, Madrasahs and Moulavis and NO Jama'aths that have come up like mushrooms. Also, there were even less "educated" people. But today, the situation is vastly different and so are we. Shouldn't we think about it and work towards changing the community to become Islamic? I mean REAL Islamic.WassalaamOn Thursday, June 19, 2014 10:56 PM, "'dr.reffai' Dr.R...@gmail.com [lankamuslims]" <lankam...@yahoogroups.com> wrote:
Assalamu alaikumI totally agree with the opinion given below and also have similar sentiments about the hartals.Today, Thursday many may say we had a successful harthal - many Muslim shops were closed- but what is the outcome? From what I can see, it is a loss for us the muslims only. When we close shops we inconvenience the customers. the shop owners loose the income for one day. Does the government feel the pinch? Does it in anyway affect the culprits who caused the mayhem at Aluthgama / Beruwela/ Dharga town? Not at all.Similarly someone asked me "why not organise a peaceful procession of women, muslims and non muslims"? - my reply was "What for?"when we want to show protest we must use our aql - not do what is done usually. These measures may have good outcome in some situation but the result must be evaluated before being launched. Specially not to cause loss to ourselves.Let's hope the leaders who lead the masses to show their protest willa ct wise and think with their heads(wisdom) not with their hearts ( mere emotions) .---------- Forwarded message ----------

Assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullaah.First, this is a situation that Allaah, due to His immense Wisdom has allowed this to occur, as all of the other atrocities that have occurred to the Muslims of the world. And like Allaah has willed and allowed it, it is ONLY He who can remove it. Therefore, it is extremely crucial that Allaah's aid is sort in whatever we do. In doing so, we must adhere to seeking the pleasure of Allaah, and abiding by His limits, and adhering to His recommendations, as He is al-Hakeem, All-Wise, and al-Aleem, All Knowledgeable. If we want success, the only way we can achieve success in this, in truth, is by taking examples from our history. As Allaah mentions: "And your Lord was not forgetful". And the Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam said: "There is nothing in this world that will benefit you, except that I have conveyed it" And Allaah says: "Allaah will never lay a burden more than one can bear"As for the 'peaceful rally', then I personally disagree for the following reasons:1. It is not known from the history of us Muslims that is was a strategy for any solution. We do not have one example from the life of the first 3 generations. If they are our guide, then where is their guidance in this? Allaah mentions: "And your Lord was not forgetful"2. Rally, a milder term for demonstrations/protests, they are from the methodologies of other than us Muslims, it is unfortunate that we still take our examples from other than our legacy.3. There are many many statements from the Scholars of Islam from the past and present advising against these rallies/protests/demonstrations. And Allaah says: "Obey Allaah, Obey The Messenger, and the people of authority from you" (from the tafseer "people of authority" are the Ulamaa (scholars) and the Umaraa (leaders)).4. The manner in which the Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam sort assistance, is first from Alllaah. then in the worldly way of handling matters, he sent delegations to rulers of other areas (for example he personally went to Taa'if, then the King of Abyssinia). He sent the leaders and the best of his companions.5. Rallies are by nature not peaceful, never in history, so to call it peaceful is ironic. There are many many ill effects of this and anyone who has eyes to see and is sincere will see this.6. It is not a dignified manner in which aid is sort, it is a very low and powerless action. I do not know of any rally that has made a resolution. Even in the West we do not have examples... the Occupy Movement did not even leave a scratch in this country. Throwing mood/tantrums are not even acceptable to us by our children. So how can we expect others to accept this.7. Rallies, are where emotions run high, so how do we expect to control that in public? It invites unnecessary attention and exposure of our families. Us and our families are noted by everyone, good or bad. It is possible that the supporters of BBS can try to disrupt things on that day. They can even impersonate us, behave badly, and then we get blamed for this. Today while driving to work, on Euclid near the 22 freeway, we saw a Sinhalese Buddhist flag been hoisted over the wall... the coincidence is interesting.8. The CG office is just a suite in the building, no one from the area even knows about it. Sri Lanka as a country is not commonly known. So we will be raising more questions about us and the situation, among the general public.
For a few senior members of our community, to go and meet the ambassadors of firstly, the Muslim countries. especially those that we have economic ties with, brief them as to what is happening, and request them to apply economic and political pressure if they could. Also document facts in a very simple organized manner in the form of a small package that can be presented for proof.I ask Allaah, as-Samad, the One Who's help is sort and relied on, that He gives us the tawfeeq, and success in what we do. Also that we acquire His pleasure in doing so. I ask Allaah to protect us from the the actions of our enemies and to deal with them in any way He pleases. I ask Allaah to forgive us and pardon us for our sins and shortcomings, as it is due to our sins that many times we face hardship. There is Absolutely no Power nor Might, except with Allaah.Subhaanllaahi, subhanakallaahumma wabihamdika, Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illaa anta astaghfiruka wa atoobu ilaik.Aslam--

AAWWMy humble opinion about distributing Al Quran at this time can create more unnecessary troubles.BBS already had sent us several messages saying too many extremist elements in the process of converting Buddhist to IslamAnd blindly working on a project like this at this specific time can definitely cause us more troublesInstead, why dont we working on more websites as they initiate all from the internet. This is my humble opinionYou all knows best.
Assalaamu Alaikkum,
I understand your good intention. The role of BBS and anti-Muslim activists in maligning Islam and Muslims is not going to stop permanently even if they are contained temporarily by the interference of various forces. They might start again in a mass scale in future quoting the reason of our distributing Quran even in future. We should not be cause for this. Therefore, we need to act wise and find alternative ways to spread good values and teachings of Islam.
