There are two parts to the Haiti cook stove equation.
1: the stove and how efficient it burns fuel, and that affect health, heat, and cost of fuel.
and
#2: the fuel
and the two parts of that are, the cost of fuel, AND what you use for fuel.
In an ideal sustainable Haiti one would never burn wood from trees ether in raw wood or charcoal form.
AND THE Briquet can address both of those problems, OR offer a attainable solution to the average Haitian.
hopefully

solar is OK if you have enough sun, remember how much rain Haiti gets (or they get a lot)
i have some friends using solar to charge their batteries for there computer and they are often complaining there is not enough sun.
And second the average Haitian can not afford to buy a solar oven.
And not enough NGO are giving them to the people.
The Briquet solution can address the problem at a level that people can afford.
And accepts the reality as is, not at the level we want it to be in the future with a combination solar and gas canisters, etc.
peace

Understood.  The issue just made me think about a solar cooking project Star-Tides did in Afghanistan.
