I just talked with Leon and received a report of damage to the compounds and communities.

1.        Communities.  Ibo and Repatriote appear the hardest hit, with many homes losing roofs.  It is a fair guess that the tent homes that remain were impacted.  We’ll provide more info as we receive it.  There was no reported loss of life in the congregations/families.

2.       Blanchard compound.  Several trees down (mostly uprooted) and part of the ad hoc shed that has been in the rec field since the earthquake was ruined.  The part that covers the biosand filter area is ok.  The other buildings are fine.

3.       Cite Soleil compound.  The buildings are fine.  About half of the trees, including 3 of the almonds between the school buildings, fell.  The banana grove in back fell over.

4.       Repatriote compound.  The sanctuary tent was taken down prior to the storm and will be erected Sunday AM for worship.  The new construction (school and church) are fine.  The old Christian Ed building that has been used as a depot lost part of its roof.

5.       Ibo Beach compound.  The church lost its roof and many homes were damaged.

6.        All of the homes HOM has built in the past two years seem to be fine, with no damage reported.

Any donations sent to HOM’s relief account will be used to focus on restoring roofs and other damage to homes in the communities.  We will price the roofs needed for the Ibo Beach church and the Repatriote depot.  My own back of the envelope guess for the Ibo church is about $50,000.  If you wish to donate for either of those projects, just designate your donation for the specific project and we will get it there.  As always, 100% of each donation goes to the work, with no overhead costs.
