Ciaio!

Emmanuel Roy Wanted in Miami, Florida for Fraud

July 10, 2012 , by Elaina Robbins
Emmanuel Roy was issued a bench warrant by a Miami, Florida Magistrate after he failed to show up to a federal hearing, news sources indicate. Roy, a New York-based lawyer, was scheduled to appear in court on Friday to face federal allegations that he ripped off a former client, who ended up in jail with a seven-year sentence. It is not clear whether Roy retained a Florida-based private criminal defense attorney to help him with the case.
Roy is facing the allegations along with another attorney, Peter Mayas of Plantation, Florida. Sources indicate that Mayas and Roy were hired to help Patrick Coulton on Coconut Creek with a criminal case in 2008. Coulton's family reportedly paid the two attorneys in cash as well as gifts such as a townhouse in Coconut Creek, a Porsche, and pricey jewelry. The compensation that the lawyers received was worth approximately $275,800, according to news reports.
Coulton, who was arrested in March 2008 after federal authorities accused him of money laundering and drug possession, pleaded guilty in court with both Mayas and Roy present. After the guilty plea, both attorneys allegedly abandoned Coulton, leaving him to fend for himself in court. It is not clear whether Coulton was able to hire new representation after the lawyers' alleged departure He was sentenced to seven years behind bars, a sentence that he is currently serving. Now, Roy and Mayas have been ordered to return the compensation they allegedly received to represent Coulton to Coulton's family.
Mayas has already appeared in court to deny the charges. He initially delayed a hearing earlier this year because of an impending heart procedure. On May 31, before a federal Magistrate, Mayas reportedly claimed that he was not technically Coulton's lawyer because he had not signed a contract and that he was instead simply assisting Roy. "When a lawyer represents a client, they sign a contract, a retainer. Mr. Coulton never retained me as his lawyer," Mayas apparently told the press. It is not clear whether Mayas and Roy knew each other before working on Coulton's case.
"Not one check was made in my name. Not one payment went to me. Why am I being harassed?" Mayas was quoted at saying at Friday's hearing. He did not bring representation to the hearing despite the fact that he is not licensed practice in federal court, explaining that he could not afford to hire an attorney. The Magistrate responsible for the case, according to the press, was not pleased with Mayas' explanation of the situation, calling it close to perjury. Mayas, however, remains free as the trial progresses.
Roy has run into problems with the law before, sources indicate. In 2009, he has arrested in New York in connection to a mortgage fraud case worth nearly $7 million. Not many details of the case are clear, but it is apparently not yet completed. Roy paid an unspecified bond amount, on which he is currently free. His exact whereabouts are not publicly known, and he does not appear to have spoken to the press about the new allegations.

WHO IS RUNNING HAITIAN DIPLOMACY: AMATEUR DIPLOMATS MAKING US LOOK LIKE MONKEYS – WHERE IS AMBASSADOR RAYMOND A. JOSEPH?

On September 23, the Supreme Court of the Dominican Republican issued a ruling that retroactively denationalized many Dominicans of Haitian ancestry.  The Haitian government said nothing. Not one press conference, not one press release, zip, zero, nyet, nada, nothing.  Some of you said that this was an internal matter that the Dominican Republic should deal with and that the Haitian Government has nothing to do with it. Some of you said that the Haitian Government was right for being cautious, while other countries in the Caribbean were busy condemning the Dominican Republic.

Following a huge march against the Haitian Government asking for Martelly and Lamothe’s departure, Lamothe wasted our money taking a trip to Silicon Valley for photo-ops with Sean Penn and others, while Pierre Richard Casimir, the worst of the worst was in Venezuela reading an agreement biding Haiti to bilateral talks with the Dominican Republic.  First of all, what’s happening in the Dominican Republic is a humanitarian issue of concern to the entire world including the Haitian Government. Second, prior to this agreement, many countries had already denounced the Dominican Republic, why on earth would Pierre Richard and Lamothe entered into an agreement for bilateral talks only?  This is truly a sign of mediocrity, and a failure to think things through.  Where is Ambassador Ray Joseph when we need a real diplomat to deal with the DR?

Second, two days following the execution of the bilateral agreement, President Martelly traveled to Trinidad to have a meeting with members of CARICOM dealing with the same issues. Why sign a bilateral Agreement when there are other parties   who are concerned about the same issues, which will help your side of the argument?   It is the blind leading the blind.  President Martelly did what he could and he did well, but would it not be advisable to postpone the execution of the bilateral agreement until we find out what our supporters at CARICOM would do?

Now, the Dominican Republic issued a public statement cancelling a meeting, which was slated to take place this weekend between Martelly and DR officials.   I hate to say this but the Dominican Republic is right, first they get the Haitian monkeys to agree to talk directly to them and to them only; and then when the monkeys realized they have made a mistake, they sent the President to talk to CARICOM members.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH FIRE PIERRE RICHARD CASIMIR. HIRE A REAL BONAFIDE DIPLOMAT.  CASIMIR WAS THE SAME MINISTER WHO SAID THAT THE UN WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR CHOLERA IN HAITI. HOW MUCH MORE DO WE NEED? SERIOUSLY? IS THIS THE BEST WE CAN DO?

Emmanuel Roy
