Two Dominican baseball players are among the winners of the 2022 Rawlings Gold Glove Award. The award honors the best individual fielding performances at each position in the American and National leagues of Major League Baseball. Rawlings Sporting Goods Company, Inc., announced that Toronto Blue Jays first base Vladimir Guerrero Jr and Houston Astros shortstop Jeremy Peña are first-time winners of the prestigious award.
Interest rate increase could impact loans

Economists believe that consumer and mortgage loans will be affected following the decision of the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD) to increase its monetary policy interest rate (TPM) by 25 basis points, from 8.25% to 8.50% per year.
"The effects on consumer loans, in particular, will be affected by the rise in interest rates and the same will happen to a lesser extent with mortgage loans," said economist Iván Rodríguez.

Between 2019 and until September of this year, 28% of all births in public hospitals were Haitian mothers.
The percentage of Haitian students, regardless of the sector, grew by 37.11% between the years 2017-2018 and 2020-2021, according to data provided by the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (Minerd).

The United States donated two PCR equipment valued at $300,000 to test and diagnose COVID-19 throughout the Dominican Republic and other infectious diseases, including monkeypox.
The two PCR equipment were assigned to the Jose Maria Cabral y Baez Regional Hospital in Santiago and the Dr Antonio Musa Regional Hospital in San Pedro de Macorís.
Minister of Education threatened for denouncing anomalies
