Jean-Jacques Dessalines Michel Cincinnatus Leconte was President of Haiti from 15 August 1911 until his death on 8 August 1912.[1] He was a great-grandson of Jean-Jacques Dessalines—a former African slave who briefly held power as Emperor of Haiti—and an uncle of Joseph Laroche, the only black passenger to perish on the RMS Titanic.

This was th...e 19th president of Haiti. Cincinnatus Leconte was one of the most loved and respected president the country had ever seen. This was specifically because it was his government that brought about the most progress to the country and he was the only president to bring economic development to the level he did which was the highest compared to all other initial governments that had served in the country.

Among his most memorable achievements was the establishment of paved streets and lighting all through the country. Cincinnatus Leconte advocated for more teacher pay and was able establishing a couple of other institutions as well. He was one of the presidents who had a rough beginning however since a couple of years before becoming the president he had been at exile in neighboring Jamaica due to his advocating for good leadership which the then government took as an opposition.

Leconte was however much accepted back from exile after the president was removed from office and was democratically elected as the president for a 7 year term with a pay of $24,000 a year. He was however able to earn his money due to the many developments he brought about to the country and as such he was the most loved president of all.

Cincinnatus Leconte however had his own faults. One of these faults was the issuing of a law to specifically discriminate a certain Syrian group of Christians. He was one of the discriminators against this group and even went a step further to ensure that they were as much hated by the other citizens as much as he did. This was when he issued a law against immigrants establishing businesses in the country which was specifically targeting this group of people. When Cincinnatus Leconte died in office there were those who were much happy and enjoyed while the rest of Haiti mourned his death.
