I did call Joel from the Wall Street Journal.  He is not looking for organizations doing fundraising and  the like.  What he wants are entities such as groups that have organized sister cities associations etc...  over the years and what they are doing now.

 

There are many Haitians for example who have been involved in associations supporting their towns of origin.  I know there is a group from Hinche among others that have a yearly fundraiser for Hinche's folks.  He said he'd be interested in talking to them.  If you know anyone who's involved in those types of organizations, kindly pass on the message.

I don't oppose the opportunity for individual organizations to take advantage of this media opportunity, but my thinking is that this crisis is the opportunity for a paradigm shift in our thinking and approach - where we promote the coming together of multiple HTA's for the purposes of increasing their impact on the ground; in my thinking it will demonstrate efforts to balance the collective national-focus-approach (as all the problems are the same throughout the country) and the regionalism.  But maybe I'm just being naive and believed in MACHHA more than everyone else who said they were interested in it.
