I was at the first one. I would like for it to be in a place that is
more conducive to conversation. The place they had it was cool, but it
was noisy, which made it hard to talk to anyone who wasn't right next
to you. Also, it was difficult to mingle because the place was so
small. I'd suggest a place, but I don't know a lot of Philly venues (I
live in South Jersey).

I missed the last one, too. Where was it? I'm pretty new to Philly so
I haven't been to that many bars, but I'm sure some other hairpinner
has and knows where to go!

The last one was at the P.O.P.E., 1501 E. Passyunk.

I agree -- POPE is great but not great for conversation. What about
the South Philly Taproom? Or Brew, the coffee/beer shop across the
street? Devil's Den is a good choice too, as is Grace Tavern ... But
I'm South Philly so my recommendations tend to be in the same
neighborhoods :)

How about the basement in the Black Sheep bar? I was there recently on
an early Friday night (6ish), and the basement was empty. They have a
full bar down there, with seating for four or five, another little
round table for three or four, and a little couch area that could
easily seat ten or so. And it's so "chill" down there, too. Just a
suggestion!

I've never been there, but based on what Leslie said the Black Sheep
sounds like a good idea.

Ok! Black Sheep sounds good to me! So when would we wanna do this? Is
the first weekend in November too soon? Say November 4th? or November
11th would work, too. I just wanna make friends haha. I just graduated
and moved here with my boyfriend and we need friends...

I don't mean to dominate the thread, but 11/4 works for me! Is anyone
in touch with the facebook Hairpin Philly group? I don't have a
facebook account, so perhaps someone could inform them of this
thread?

11/4 at Black Sheep is fine by me too, for whatever it's worth!

here it is!

I organized the first one, and yeah - it was pretty loud.

We had about 25-30 people at the first one!!! it made it pretty
awesome, but it was big, so keep that in mind when choosing venue.
I'm in the middle of a move, so I'm pretty AWOL until further notice.
But I'd love to go to more in the future and will be glad to help
plan, as I know a lot of super awesome philly venues.

Good luck! have fun!

Oh yay! I searched for the group but couldn't find it! Thanks,
Colleen!

So since (hopefully) there will be a lot of people, should we make it
early, say 6pm or so on 11/4? Is that how these things work?

Oooh yay, another Pin Up! I just found my way here because Colleen
posted in the FB group! I'm in for 11/4! The last one was super fun,
but I agree that it was hard to mingle and chat with everybody. Can't
wait to meet more peeps!

How fun! I was also at the first one and had a lovely time. I can come
on 11/4 if it's early...going to a show later that night.

Look at how much fun they had at the NYC meetup last night (http://
thehairpin.com/2011/10/happy-halloween-jerks-in-nyc#comments)! This
must happen on Friday! What time again? Early-ish, right? Like 6pm?

Hey, I haven't replied yet because I wasn't sure if I was going to
make it, but it looks like I am! I have an idea, and I was wondering
what do you ladies think. See, I went to the last Philly meetup, and
while I met a lot of wonderful ladies, I couldn't remember who a lot
of them were after the fact. The only ones whose names I specifically
remembered were the organizer and one other person who mentioned what
her profile pic was. So here's my idea: I work at a print shop. If you
all tell me who you are, I can make name tag stickers that include our
real names, hairpin names, and profile pics. And of course I'd make
some blank ones for those who don't respond. What do you think?

Omg wow. That sounds awesome! Like, the most amazing! So, yes I
definitely think you should do that. Should we email you the info? And
cross-post this on the fbk group!

The most I can contribute is cookies/or similar baked good and my
presence!

Okay, so I'm going to make name tags for the meetup tonight. If you
want one (and you most certainly do), email me your name (your actual,
real life name) and a link to your hairpin profile page. You can find
your profile page by clicking your name in a comment you've made. For
instance, mine is http://thehairpin.com/user/5306/jen325 My email is
jennif...@gmail.com, and please put "hairpin meetup" in the
subject line. I will make blank name tags for those who don't email me
their stuff. See you all soon!

I showed up but didn't see anyone! Then I got shy, gave up, and went
home.

Hopefully I'll see you all at the next one!

Amanda, we were in the basement! I'm so sorry you missed us. We will definitely have another one so we'll see you then!
