Soim having a issue where my Minecraft skin doesn't show when I play a modpack that has Forge as its modloader and I've tried everything to see if i can get my skin to work but i cant get it to work, But if I play on a Fabric modpack my skin works fine.
2. (assuming you're using curseforge and you did step one to figure out that it is forge causing the problem) Try using a different modpack manager, or just copy and paste your mods into your mods folder in your MC installation and install forge the normal way.
Let me guess, you are playing a modpack for Minecraft version 1.18 or newer correct?
If so then we both have the same issue, what that issue is however... Is yet to be found for all I know.
Last response I got said that my error meant I was used a cracked launcher, which I can disprove since even other launchers have given the same result. *Currently GDlauncher*
I only noticed one common trait in the logs... The existence of "Connection Timed Out", appearing only in the Forge instances. Even just having forge installed gives this error.
To me it would seem that something in Forge's coding slows the transfer down just enough that it just gives up and refuses the token, or something.
To compare here is a log for both instances, same mods for the most part. One for Forge and One for Fabric.
Fabric:
Forge:
A few players are definitely having this issue, regardless of their launcher however Forge is the one thing they all have in common... I wonder if there is a JVM argument one could add to allow it to allow it to take more time to make the connection to the authentication servers... Since Forge does seem to have more console loading than fabric.
Okay if this issue is in minecraft 1.18 or newer, then you might have had the same issue I had.
Now here is the possible solution.
Long story short.. ipv6...
Someone posted about before.
Add the following to the JVM Argument in the launcher you are using "-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true".
Seems that after 1.18 Forge manages to use ipv6 by default if your PC has it enabled, but this argument can force your game's launcher to use IPv4 instead.
It squashed the problem instantly for me.
Thank you! I have been looking for a solution to the problem for 3 months now, without finding an answer. The problem with displaying the skin was precisely on version 1.18.2, even in a single player game and only with Forge. Moreover, everything worked correctly on another computer. I'm already tired of looking for the problem. I deleted everything I could from the programs on my PC, nothing helped. I saw your post and unchecked IPv6 in the properties of my network connection and the problem disappeared! Thank you, you saved my nerve cells! Sorry for my English.
BRO. Thank you! This has been driving me NUTS. I've been using Curseforge for a while, and all of a sudden since 1.20.2 (I have a few basic QoL mods on such as minimap, Waila etc and my skin wasn't showing, even in singleplayer by myself! This has sorted it. Bit of a weird workaround, but this'll do.
Skins change how your character looks in the game of Minecraft. Everyone starts with the classic Steve and Alex skins but players customize their avatar by downloading or creating custom skins. It's like character creation except while you're limited by the simplistic blocky model, you have unlimited possibilities because every pixel matters. Technically, a Minecraft skin is just a small .png image file that wraps around your player model changing its appearance in the game. You don't have to settle with one persona when you can choose from over a million custom skins uploaded by the community to Planet Minecraft!
The easiest way to customize your Minecraft skin is downloading them. You can download skins for different occasions, characters and purposes. When you find the right skin on Planet Minecraft, you'll see options for changing your skin or downloading the image file to import in your game. If you're using Java Edition, you can simply change your skin and it will automatically upload it to your
minecraft.net account. If you're using Windows 10 Bedrock Edition, download the skin file, open Minecraft and import the file from your skin settings. Consider leaving some kind feedback on the skin creators content!
If you can't find the perfect Minecraft skin for you, consider creating your own with our Minecraft Skin Editor! Who knows, maybe you'll have so much fun, you'll upload skins for others to download! Whether you're a novice or advanced Minecraft skinner, you can find inspiration for your next skin by browsing trending Minecraft skins. New personas, characters, objects and artistic interpretations are uploaded every day! You can learn new skin design techniques by studying the details of your favorite Minecraft skins or following tutorials on Minecraft Skinning.
My friend made her Minecraft account when she was around 8, she's now 11. I don'tknow for sure if the skin she is stuck with was her first ever after default Steve. Still, after uploading her custom skin, she couldn't change it. Does this have to do with how old her account is? The email?
Did you make sure to hit "Save" under save and upload? That could be why, or maybe the skin file is too large/small. If you need, use Skin Craft becuase it is an easy way to make skins, and will automatically size them for you.
This had happened to me before. I had changed my skin but it showed a steve skin. This problem might be that you have the skin on but in your view it looks like a steve. Luckily I had another account for minecraft. in its view, it showed my skin. If you want more detail, please put more information like what did you do? What skin did you upload? Try using this website.
My skin wouldn't load at all, It kept showing a loading symbol but it refused to load. Also, If I tried to equip any clothing items in the character creator, It doesn't equip or appear on my character. I play on Switch. I tried closing and opening Minecraft but it doesn't work. Is there any underlying issue or problem? I think it might be related to the software update I had on my Minecraft, But I'm not exactly sure. (P.S. Not related, but my camera is a bit buggy when switching from 1st-3rd person front and back.)
However the task now seem a little harder than expected:I've tried looking in the asset store for prefabs to use but without success. So, I've decided to try and make a model on blender(by not knowing a thing about non parametric 3d modeling, my knowledge of blender is extremely limited) and import it into my unity game. And surprisingly, I managed to create the model using McPrep, export it and import it into unity maintaining objects that drive the bones (the output is a bit messy but I think I can manage to clean it up a little). However the imported version does not have any skin and appears in a gray shade.Turns out that the output does not keep materials/textures with it!
I've tried getting the texture used by blender and it returns the same skin I fed into mcprep so, by using the same skin, I've tried creating a material with it by getting the .png and using it as texture in a unlit texture material. However, the result is a bit messy as shown here (left is Blender, right is Unity):
EDIT:Thanks for the answers before, I did set the filter to point obtaining the texture to be a bit better. However the part that should be transparent is displayed in black on top of the other part (I think). The image on the right is only filter point and the one on the left is point + alpha is transparency and the transparent shader using unlit transparent
Minecraft player characters are made of 2 layers, the second layer usually has lots of transparency and is used for clothing or other relief detail. So you need to use a transparency-capable shader on your material in Unity.
You're running into a filtering issue. In your case you want no filtering to happen. So select your texture, and in the inspector change the import settings so that your "Filter Mode" is set to "Point". In this case it will do no filtering of the input and your large pixels should appear sharp as you want.
I've created dozens of skins over the years, but unfortunately, as of late, I've been having problems with getting minecraft to work properly with some of my old skins. (Note: I'm speaking of the Windows 10 version of Minecraft, not the full PC version, which I also own.) For example, I have several skins that I've modified to work with the animated player mod on the full version, that cause the Win 10 version to crash when selected. I know there have been other skins that have given me trouble as well, but this was what just happened to me a few minutes ago. The problem is that I had to reinstall the game once before because I couldn't figure out how to get the game running again. Every time I tried to restart it, it would show the Mojang logo and then die. However, because this happened a second time to me today, I ran through everything a second time, and figured out how to fix it. All you need is your mouse, keyboard and the %AppData% folder.
First, we have to access Win 10 edition's file system. To do that, we have to get into the hidden AppData folder. To get to the AppData folder, click on your C drive in windows explorer. Then, at the location bar at the top, type in "C:\%AppData%" minus the quotation marks. This will take you to the AppData Roaming folder. We don't want this folder, so at the location bar up top click on the word AppData to go to the main page.
