The problem? for some reason since I installed the new launcher, it will not show the old installations I had in my old launcher (eg: 1.7.10 or forge 1.X.X), it IS pointing to the same directory from what I checked, and it DOES show my old versions in there, but they are not showing up in the new launcher.
I am making a program in Java that involves me starting up the Minecraft launcher through the program itself. I've seen a way to do this using ProcessBuilders and stuff like that. However, I do not want the launcher to run to the default minecraft folder directory (minecraft on mac, .minecraft on windows). Is there a way that I can run the launcher through my program with the files set towards a different directory?
I have been playing minecraft for a long time on ubuntu but I have always used the old 'java' launcher.Since there is a new launcher I would like to update minecraft to that. I have searched the internet but can't update it whatever I do even reinstalling the game won't fix it.Can anyone help me?
This also worked for me. Just as a heads up, this was caused due to the fact I did not have a locale setup. I followed the steps on the Arch wiki page for Locale and I can now use minecraft-launcher normally, without prepending LC_ALL=C.
There is no sound ingame (worlds and menus are silent) on any minecraft version. I'm using pipewire. All other multimedia works fine (playing music, videos etc). Have anyone encountered something like this before with this launcher?
@Jackleson The system's keychain aka. "OS level password manager" is used to securely store your session keys and is normally unlocked when you login to your computer. The launcher uses it on all systems, including GNOME/MATE, macOS and Windows, and so do all modern web browsers.
What do you mean by key nonsense. Also, manjaro has it's own issues that cause further issues. Don't try to bring the topic of "it's not required on windows" onto this site, windows and arch Linux are drastically different. My suggestions for your problem are to a. Use regular arch b. Use prism launcher (multimc was great, this is better, and polymc can't be trusted.) c. Don't play minecraft.
To use this launcher you have to own Minecraft: Bedrock Edition on google play store, you may be unable to play the latest update of the Game. Otherwise you will get an license error while launching the google play apk.
I get an error every time I try to download bedrock for Minecraft weather it be through the launcher off the website off Xbox app or even MS store. My MS store and Xbox account are the same I have logged out re downloaded both repaired and restarted both to no avail everything like ms store xbox app and mc launcher is installed on my C: drive so its all in the same location. I've done every guide on the internet to no avail I just want to play minecraft with my girlfriend. here are links to all the stuff I tried with people having the same issue. Where some stuff works for some theres a large majority of us that can't get it fixed no matter what and just quit trying but I wanna play this game I reset windows down to factory mode and im still getting this issue its insane.
MultiMC is an alternative launcher for Minecraft. It allows you to have multiple, cleanly separated instances of Minecraft (each with their own mods, resource packs, saves, etc) and helps you manage them and their associated options with a simple and powerful interface.
MultiMC is based on the code hosted on GitHub. The source is only provided for the purpose of collaboration. The changes in the binary distribution compared to code are the inclusion of branding and API keys required for the launcher to function, along with packaging-related adjustments.
TL Legacy is a custom lightweight Minecraft launcher packed with useful features like a built-in skin system, forge, fabric, optifine and more. Users can access all game versions, from the original alpha to the most recent release. Play offline or with buddies online.
The Minecraft client can be installed via the minecraft-launcherAUR package. It provides the official game launcher, a script to launch it and a .desktop file. The package is officially recommended by Mojang on their website.
The unofficial Bedrock Minecraft client can be installed by mcpelauncher-appimageAUR package. Alternatively, it can be compiled using mcpelauncher-linux-gitAUR package. The launcher can also be used by an app image provided on the GitHub page.
To start the server, you may either use systemd or run it directly from the command line. Using systemd, you may start and enable the included minecraft-bedrock-server.service. Alternatively, run the following as the minecraft-bedrock user inside the /opt/minecraft-bedrock-server directory:
When downloading and installing the minecraft launcher from the offical website, there is no step for me to choose the install path and its always in C:\XboxGames. Anyway for me to change the path into C:\GameLaunchers?
Yes! When I downloaded and ran the legacy .msi launcher install from Mojang, it asked where I wanted to install the launcher. Set that to your target directory and you are good to go! You might experience issues because Windows is very picky about where you store your files. C:/ is your root directory, and Windows likes you to store and install your stuff in your user directory.
If this still causes problems and simply doesn't work or you want an easier-to-use experience, you might consider using a different launcher like MultiMC, CurseForge, or ATLauncher. They make it significantly easier to add mods and manage the location of your installations. I assume you're using Windows, so all these launchers are available for you to use. I have used all these launchers and I personally recommend CurseForge. It is very user-friendly and has access to arguably the largest modpack database in the Minecraft community.
If you use Linux, or if anyone comes across this post with a similar issue, you can go to the same link but install the Other Distributions tarball and run tar -xzf minecraft.tar.gz. This will create a /minecraft directory you can move where you like. All the launchers I mentioned work for Linux except CurseForge. They still haven't added Minecraft support for some reason.
