June is Bike Month!

Heya Gang,
So if we are going to try and get June as Bike month, we should come
up with some activities to spur interest in biking around Haines.

Maybe a bike give-away, for people in town that don't have a bicycle
that would like one, does anyone have any used bikes at home that are
gathering dust that could use a new home?

Maybe we could buy a bike and raffle it off? Could be a fundraiser
for the club if we were interested (especially if done at the race).
Anyone know anything about permitting for a raffle?

We could also promote a bike swap or "recycle a bike" by digging out
our vintage rides. Maybe plan some workshops to learn to tune them
up, and then find them good homes?

I think we should make May bike month, to be more in-line with the national scene (of course, Haines can beat to its own drum if it likes).

This means we have less time to prepare though.

Another thought...  we should have a presence in this years 4th of July parade.  It would be a great way to get some publicity and increase interest.
