She sings about her family and was inspired by her family and relationships on "Bell Bottom Country." There's heartfelt songs ("Those Boots (Deddy's Song)") and barnburners like "Grease." "Grease" is a fun, light-hearted sexy song inspired by her mother's phrase, "Now we're cooking with grease."

this is one of my favorite clapton songs. it speaks, intensely, of the unconditional love he felt for this woman (presumably patti harrison - whom he writes about in "layla"). on the last verse, though, he says "don't be surprised if you find me with another lover." so while this song speaks of overpowering, weakening love, it also speaks of his ability to overcome a love that does him no good. that is what makes it so fabulous.
It doesn't make total sense that the subject (Bell Bottom Blues) of "Bell Bottom Blues" is a woman, in spite of the Layla album being inspired by Mrs. Harrison. (What does 'Bell Bottoms' have to do with a woman? Unless it's some sort of insider thing..) "Bell Bottom Blues" is actually one of the few songs on the album that doesn't explicitly reference Patti Boyd. The subject of "Bell Bottom Blues" is the music itself. (I.e., a bunch rock-n-roll elite in bell bottoms hard at work doing their thing.)
MF: I really love all the songs. I spoke to Peter Rowan about your cover of Last Train. He said he was very honored that you chose to do that song. Was there a specific reason you opted to do that one specifically?
Well, that certainly does not sound like the Bell Bottom Trousers that was heard in the 1940s or is remembered as one of the hit songs of 1944-1945, does it? The reason for this apparent discrepancy is because the song that we know as Bell Bottom Trousers is a sanitized version of the original. More about that later. Let me give you the background for this song first.
