Hi Everyone, My name is Elisa.
I received approval for 4 month trial period - through first semester for Haiku.  I am in charge of managing the project. Since it is a trial - I am limited to resources available. Any help that you can give me regarding the setup of the domain and importing information from Skyward is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Elisa

Hi, Elisa!

Thanks so much for your note! During the pilot process, your Account Executive is generally the best person to help you get more information about SIS integration. From my notes, it looks like you've already been in touch, but if you need help let me know!

Cheers,
Justin

We used Clever integration and it works awesome.  I'm not sure about using a trial version, but I know I couldn't be happier with the way they integrated Skyward and Haiku!

Does anyone else do updates via integration like:
Disabling students in Haiku when a class or semester ends?
Or removing a student from a class roster?

Thanks, Carolyn Oates

We do through GeniusSIS.  All of our roster management is done through Genius.

We are all manual once the school year begins. I create the classes, upload rosters and new students at the beginning of the year.
After the initial upload, teachers manage their roster add/drops.

Hi Brian,
And at the end of the school year? Do you disable students or just let them disable after 6 months automatically?

Thanks, Carolyn

We do a manual process also exactly like Brian stated below.  The export from our SIS produces a large spreadsheet of rosters for each class section.  We then adapt this spreadsheet to the update_roster. csv file that Haiku needs to populate rosters using the partial import procedure.  After the initial import in mid to late August, teachers manage adds and drops themselves, but we help in whatever way is needed.

When a semester class ends, the procedure is to do a Save As to save the content of the class to a new class, and we deactivate the original class. Save as procedures should always be done by We then export the rosters from our SIS and populate the new class roster using update_roster again.  Each class and each student have unique import IDs that are used in building the update_roster file for import to Haiku.   Only students who have left the school are deactivated or disabled at the end of each year, but not deleted from haiku.

Thanks. Its a big help to hear how others handle registration, changes, and end of class/ semester.

This what we have just started doing:  CSV to CSV  (automatic) including Adds, Drops, and change to another Section
and Save As for new class.
The program does Add/Drop so the SIS and Haiku stay in sync, since our newest classes seem to have students changing sections, dropping and even late adds it seems the whole semester. [I would expect fewer roster changes in schools.]

But we are wanting to move to API so very curious if others do disable or deactivate via API?

We are not typical since we have same class the 8-10 times a year, but now have classes on a semester basis.

Do you (or anyone else out there) use sections (via roster classes)  from SIS?   CSV to CSV import or API?
If not does someone have an alternative way to handle sections or levels?

Thanks again for the discussion, Carolyn Oates
