We do a manual process also exactly like Brian stated below. The export from our SIS produces a large spreadsheet of rosters for each class section. We then adapt this spreadsheet to the update_roster. csv file that Haiku needs to populate rosters using the partial import procedure. After the initial import in mid to late August, teachers manage adds and drops themselves, but we help in whatever way is needed.
When a semester class ends, the procedure is to do a Save As to save the content of the class to a new class, and we deactivate the original class. Save as procedures should always be done by We then export the rosters from our SIS and populate the new class roster using update_roster again. Each class and each student have unique import IDs that are used in building the update_roster file for import to Haiku. Only students who have left the school are deactivated or disabled at the end of each year, but not deleted from haiku.
