We currently have a 1:1 Macbook program at our high school.  Many teachers use the Safe Exam Browser option to secure their haiku assessments and prevent students from using or accessing unintended resources to take the assessment.   We like this because it is 1) easy to use 2) free 3) is integrated well with Haiku and 4) can be controlled as a simple requirement for individual assessments by the teacher.

We are considering a move to another device in the future for our 1:1.  One option we are considering is the Chromebook. At this time, Safe Exam Browser is not available as a Chrome app.  I know that there are several districts now using Chromeboooks, Google Apps for Education, and Haiku together.  Have any of you found a good solution for giving secure assessments on the chromebook in a way that can be managed at the class level?  Thank you!

Folks in your tech dept need to study up on Chromebook management.  It can be done!  We're doing this for state testing to only allow one URL to display when students are logged on as the testing user.

We have struggled with this as well.  Downside of the options in MaryAnn's link is that you have to reconfigure the Chromebooks to run as either a single app kiosk or public session kiosk.  Our students login to them individually with their own accounts.

We use Hapara remote control as a tool for teachers to support test security.
