Hi, Everyone!

For those using Chrome on Windows, please read on.

Yesterday, we became aware of an issue unique to Chrome version 30.  A bug introduced by Google in Chrome 30 regarding wildcard certificates and longer canonical names is causing some of our domains not to resolve.  We have confirmed that this is an issue on Windows 7 and 8 and affects domains with a canonical of eight characters and above.

All of you with a <yourdomain>.haikulearning.com domain name under 7 characters should be fine.

Anyone with a <yourdomain>.haikulearning.com domain name greater than 8 characters, using Chrome v.30 may not be able to access your login page.  These requests don't even seem to be hitting our servers, but failing when Chrome tries to establish a secure connection.

You can follow the official bug report here: https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=303398

To avoid this issue do not install Chrome version 30 until further notice.  If you have installed Chrome 30 already and are experiencing issues we recommend reverting to Chrome 29.

If your Chrome usage is widespread and reverting to Chrome 29 is not an option please contact support@haikulearning for alternative options.

If you are experiencing this issue on a different OS than Windows 7 or 8, please let us know.

We'll be in touch once Google resolves this issue.

Some of our Blackbaud schools have also advised us that this Chrome issue is also interfering with some Faculty Access and NetClassroom instances.

Best,
Elizabeth

Thanks, Brian! I have also heard some reports of folks using Pearson having the same problem as well.

I also have heard that Mac users with OS 10.8.5 may also be running into this issue as well. (I'm running 10.7.5, which is running Chrome 30 just fine.)

Best,
Elizabeth

Good news, everyone! We were able to work with Rackspace (our hosting company) to do an upgrade to our Load Balancers tonight that has resolved the issue with Chrome version 30, at least for Haiku Learning.

Let us know if you have questions or run into further trouble.
