Today I deployed the pilot and began fishing. After several minutes go by notice I still do not have any signal bars on the remote. The motor would run and power all the way up to 10 and turn left and right, just like it is supposed to. Finally after about 15 minutes my remote shows signal, so I hit the anchor button. I stayed on spot lock for about 10 minutes ( very little current- the motor was running around 3 or 4 power). Then all of a sudden I lost all GPS signal on the remote. 10 minutes later the signal comes back and I spot lock again. This goes on like this all day. Anybody ever experience anything like this?
Not on an Ipiot BUT my XI5 was doing some stupid stuff. Here,s what I found. First the battery's in both my remotes were below 1 volt ( aaa ). While that does cause problems with these remote control trolling motors I was not convinced it was the sole problem. Did a maintenance check on my 36 volt battery's and found the center battery had good voltage on the meter but would not pass a LOAD TEST. THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. Replaced, all good now.
Yea......so did my XI5. It started as GPS problems for a while. Weeks later it eventually It would be running wide open for 4 or five minutes then just shut off. That sent me to checking the battery's and connections. My point was these remote control, GPS driven trolling motors have control boards that have step up and step down voltage capabilities and are sensitive to voltage fluctuations caused be battery issues. The first thing that suffers is the GPS spot lock or heading lock.
Agree on the connections. I was just having issues with my Ipilot acting funny as well. Turns out the write connection to the tender was going bad. Cut it off and redid and back to working normal now. Whichwaysup has a good point on the sensitivity of it all.
Update. I tested the batteries and as it turns out one of the batteries was only producing 10 volts. I pulled it out and put it on my charger.....it read reversed polarity. This was evidently the problem. 3 year old Interstate group 27 deep cycle. This is the first time I have had this happen. Thanks for the suggestions for troubleshooting.
I'm trying to help my elderly neighbor and customer service is absolutely no help. Her remote won't respond to voice commands. All other functions work, on/off volume. If we push the mic button it tells us "somethings not right, try again later". We've paired, unpaired, paired again, made two calls to Customer service totalling 1.5 hours with no resolution. Their response is go get new remotes. I took the remote from her bedroom and tested it there and it responded to voice commands. I brought that remote out to the living room and paired it with the tv out there (replacing the remote that wouldn't respond). It did not respond. Took it back in the bedroom and paired it to that tv and it worked again. This leads me to believe that this isn't a remote issue. My neighbor just wants to speak into her remote. She can't seem to get the hang of using the guide or just entering the channel number. This is important to her and I can't seem to get any resolution. Please help!
the remote is 'RF' (radio) paired to the set top box. taking one that is paired to box 'A' to box 'B' still works box 'B' if it is in range. There are commands to issue/press on the remote to reassign a remote to a different set top box. On the original problem. I seldom have the problem you are describing, and until yesterday it had been some months since the last time. last night I had problems on 2 set top boxes giving the same problem 'something's not right' and that 'off sound' from the remote. after trying the button 3-4 times it then worked. It could be that the server that the set top box sends the voice message to for decoding was overloaded or rebooting, etc.
Does the green light flashing on your radio or it is solid ?
If flashing then the two radios are not connected.
Did you removed CTS/DTR wires on the remote side of the radio ? (nota bene: they have to be removed)
a. You have your radio connected to GCS via USB. But remote radio did not powered up.
Can you get the local config of your radio ?
b. You have your radio connected to GCS via USB and remote radio is powered up AND connected (solid green lights on both radios)
You can get the local config of your radio but not config of the remote ?
In case b if you can get the local config but not the remote,you see in the RSSI box ?
ps. I suggest removing RTS/CTS WIRES on the FC side, because those are used to go to firmware update mode on power on, and if a flight controller pull them up for any reason during power-on you cannot connect. But his goes with the issue you linked, not the one you described.
The objective of the post is to duplicate the problem. Those who can get it to work doesnt solve anything. The way arounds are fine but the system should work as outlined in The docs. There are others experiencing similar issues.
But there is no problem. Not with the radios and not with Mission Planner. Your Point 1 is a misunderstanding of how they operate and lead to the other issues most likely. These things have been around for years with no change in the process of setup or configuration.
To change NetID:
Change the NetID on the Local radio only.
Press Copy required to Remote.
Press Save Settings.
At Set Command Error prompt select OK. Wait.Done.
Connect to remote radio to test.
To update the Firmware on the local Radio:
Cycle the power to both radios.
Load settings to test.
Select Upload Firmware (local). Wait. it will cycle thru connection options then Erase and write.
Success.
