Are there any pilots on this list? I was wondering if it's possible
to use the HaH airstrip at night. I'm figuring landing is probably
impossible, but taking off could be feasible. I'm not sure what
lights are out there since I've never seen the airfield at night.

CHECK WITH TODD HE IS PILOT WITH PLANE IN THE HANGER AT HAH AIRSTRIP....
IT IS AN UN-LIGHTED & UN-SUPERVISED AIR FIELD... WITH POWER LINES AT FAR
SIDE ALONG WITH ELEVATION ON EITHER SIDE THAT WOULD MAKE "NIGHT" USE
VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE... MY WIFE CARTER TELLS ME THAT THERE WAS A DAYTIME
CRASH OF A SMALL PRIVATE PLANE YEARS AGO... TOO MANY IN THE PLANE...TOO
HEAVY.... I THINK THAT THEY CLIPPED THE POWER LINES ON DEPARTURE..OR MAYBE
THE HILL.... HER DAD WAS THERE WHEN THEY WENT DOWN.. I'M PRETTY SURE ONE OR
TWO ON THE PLANE DIED.... I'VE SEEN FOLKS "FLY-IN" FOR THE DRY
DOCK......SEEN THE PLANTING AT THE FRONT GATE ??? VIC KAPOSIS & HAH
VOLUNTEERS WITH SOME AMENITIES $$'S TO PAY FOR THE PLANTS.... ALL THE
WORKERS VOLUNTEERS....... LOOKS GREAT... THEY ARE WORKING ON THE POST OFFICE
NEXT......
PATRICK..

Interesting question...

I had always understood it to be a "daytime visual field" only.

Justin,
There are no runway lights, or any other lights around the strip and with
the obstructions, it wouldn't be a good idea to take off or land at night.
HAH has a Club Rule against night takeoffs and landings. Airport rule #13
states "Flying in and out of the Hide-A-Way Hills airfield will not be
permitted between the hours of sunset to sunrise. Adverse terrain features
and the lack of adequate approach and runway lighting make flying in or out
hazardous. Airplane owners/operators violating this rule will have their
airfield privileges revoked." Besides, deer are hard to see at night!
Thanks,
Todd Kaho

Good to know.. If I fly out this weekend it will be in a C-150, which
has a slow rate of climb, particularly with a passenger. Sounds like
I should use the high obstical take-off technique.
