So for the record the board gave Mr Gilllespie 3 years, banning him
from the clubhouse and lodge for 3 years for making comments to
certain ladies which were unfounded, while a certain member only
received 1 year banning him from the same facilities for attempting to
run over another members permanent guest with a boat. That certain
individual that was driving the watercraft is related to a employee of
our lodge staff. Now i ask you is that FAIR??????
These are just things that have happened that has earned my disrespect
for the board and maintain that there only desire is to use their
forcefulness to punish members for their opposition to the boards
demands.
Do you honestly believe with 3 failed assessments, the money is just
sitting in a little vault ready for our use? Do you understand that
if we do not follow the engineering guidelines and the state mandates,
the State will come in and lower or drain our lakes for us?
Go ahead and be peeved at a Board, but you should be angry with the
previous boards who chose to ignore the dam situation and the State's
request for the past 5 years. We're on borrowed time already. It
appears your disgust with the current board has not one thing to do
with the dams and the money needed to comply with ODNR's requirements,
but rather actions that this current board took for the safety of our
employees along with attempting to hedge against a Sexual Harassment
suit that employees could have filed if we failed to react. If those
actions had not been taken, the money from the dams would be where?
No where. They money to repair the dams is needed with or without
banning a certain member from the golf course clubhouse.
While you make a point in wanting some discussion about the management
of the Club and possibly actions taken over the allegations, I believe
you have erroneously tied those discussions to the Special Assessment
needed to assure the safe use of our lakes. They have nothing to do
with one another.
You mentioned you have been here for 25 years. Is this honestly the
first time you have heard about the dam repairs? If any blame is to
be had, I feel that it lies from NOT explaining the dam situation and
the State's mandates to the Membership long before a Special
Assessment was needed.
Hats off to a board who inherited a problem previous boards chose to
ignore as they seek to find our solutions.

I suggest doing a google search for federal grant money. It's
available. According to Palmer when it was brought up at a board
meeting, (Jan 07?), either it's "we are to small to qualify" or it's
not really a grant. It's a 20 - 80 loan. The 20% is free, the 80% is a
low interest loan.
I am no brain surgeon, but if the government wants to pay 20% of this
$125,000 project - that's $25,000 that your board is not reaching into
my pocket for. In the great scheme of things, it's not a lot. But in
this little community, it's just another example of the trustees NOT
being good stewards of our money.
I agree that this being the 11th hour, we probably will get screwed,
like last year when we bought docks & couldn't pay for them. Or a few
years ago when the pool was condemned. Now it's the lakes, Notice a
pattern here? It's always an emergency. I say see who wants to give us
money, see if we can get an engineering school to come out & get some
practical experience.
Explore options before trying to stick your hand in my wallet, again!
And here's one - Ask for an extension to explore grants,
check into engineering schools.
Where I work, when a project doesn't go as planned, we have a meeting
for all parties involved. It's called a post-mortem. What got messed
up & why. How do we not repeat the same mistake the next time? Maybe
this is the time for a post mortem...
Good one, Mike:
"Hats off to a board who inherited a problem previous boards chose to

How many of these trustees were board members 3 years ago when this
problem was brought to HAH's attention? Did Palmer not share this
information with the board?
I don't buy that one, either.
