Materials like cardboard (recyclable, cheap and foldable!), wood (flexible) or even a raincoat can be the inspiration for the design talent that conquer the universe nowadays.
We think of designers as Antonela Dada and Bruno Sali with their cardboard set of furniture, the Mogga chair of the Icelandic designer Olafur Omarsson and the transformer clothing produced by Italian clothier C.P. Company and designed by by Moreno Ferrari.
Following the release of the ASRH Toolkit for Humanitarian Settings: 2020 Edition, the IAWG ASRH Sub-Working Group wanted to prioritize bringing young people's voices to the decision-making table. The IAWG ASRH SWG recently finished its application process to select four young people to serve as co-chairs for the next year. The four co-chairs are split into two teams, with at least one adolescent representative per team. Each team will serve for seven months before handing over to the next team. Let us introduce our young person co-chairs for the next year!
Jivitesh is a member of Policy Working Group - Stepping Towards Enhancing Policy Structures (PWG-STEPS), which is a youth-led, youth-run volunteer group anchored by The YP Foundation, New Delhi. He is passionate about the adolescent health and well-being of adolescents in general. He advocates for meaningful participation, capacity building, and representation of very young adolescents (10-14 years) in particular, in the various activities, policies, and programs meant for them.
Modong is a gender and adolescent health practitioner working with Amref Health Africa South Sudan as a project officer on a sexuality and reproductive health and rights project funded by UNFPA. She envisions a world where adolescents and youth are enlightened, energetic, and empowered with full awareness of their sexual health and readiness to spearhead the solutions of their reproductive health and rights.
Fokou works as a committee member of MIFALI, an adolescent-led movement coached and mentored by Women for a Change, Cameroon. He is passionate about adolescent leadership, gender equality, SRHR, and Computer science. He has considerately helped in fostering the agenda for Generation Equality in Dschang, Cameroon.Bharti Kannan
Bharti is the founder of Boondh, an organization that works in menstrual health and hygiene. Her contributions have enabled over 200 thousand menstruators in India to understand their bodies, own their lived experiences, and seek health, dignity, and agency with respect to menstruation. She is further passionate about SRHR and its effects and needs in disasters and conflicts, as well as feminist-participatory new-age funding in gender-based work.
IAWG members and partners are producing clinical and programmatic guidance, assessments, policy papers, and statements to ensure continued prioritization of sexual and reproductive health and rights throughout COVID-19 response in humanitarian settings.
The leadership of the South Sudan National Movement for Change (SSNMC), a party under the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA), has accused Vice-President for Service Cluster Hussein Abdelbagi Akol and Presidential Affairs Minister Joseph Bangasi Bakosoro of depriving them of their positions.
The SSNMC secretary said they have tried to present the matter to President Salva Kiir Mayardit, but Presidential Affairs Minister Joseph Bakosoro, the former chairperson of the party, frustrated the members.
He also accused the Vice-President of removing the party members from their positions without notice to the members. According to him, the recent removal was in Central Equatoria state, where the Minister of Local Government Moro Isaac Genesio, who took over the leadership after Bakosoro left, was fired.
