Dear Lissa,
The CPSD superintendent has approved the attached electronic
flyer about Belmont World Film's Family Festival, which takes
place in Cambridge, Arlington, and Belmont from January 17-20, and
supports the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks in both English
and foreign language.
Although films are for people of any age, they are geared mainly
to children age 2-12 and their families. Films are in English and
multiples languages with subtitles (read aloud through headphones
for young and struggling readers). This year's festival features
films and stories from ten different countries (the US included),
many based on international beloved children's books. Since it's
Martin Luther King Day weekend, there's also a program of short
films on Monday in tribute to his life, legacy, and
contemporaries. Best of all: the festival trailer was produced by
students in Cambridge's Media Arts Program!
Festival highlights include:
- The Very
Hungry Caterpillar Show Storytime: A live, audience
participatory puppet show and story time featuring two Eric
Carle stories followed by a photo opportunity with the

Thank you in advance for sharing the information with your
students and their parents. If you would like print copies or an
electronic version of the full color brochure to distribute, I
will be happy to drop some buy or email one to you. In the
meantime, please contact me if you have any questions, or if you'd
like to organize a trip for your school with discounted tickets.
