Youcan also use [Address Book] in Web Image Monitor to reset the print volume use counters. However if you want to reset the print volume use counters for all users simultaneously, use the control panel.

We need the counter for internal calculating, an so it is horrible that the counter is lost. I ask HP-Hotline what i can do, so she said "the problem is unknown....why do you need the counter, there is no need.."!!!

i guess the problem could not be solved by my self this way. All suggested steps i have done, but nothing changed. The problem exists until now with 4 printers, so the need to do this isn't so important to spend too much time :-))

Well hell, thanks for saving my sanity. I had replaced an HL-3170 CDW (bad board) and out of greed I kept the existing drums and toners. When the first one emptied I went ahead and picked up the unused (and still sealed) unit that shipped with the new printer. It kept insisting that the toner was empty, and this is an unused drum and toner set. Your reset procedure worked beautifully.

Works great on a Brother HL-L8350CDW laser printer!I had to close and reopen the front a couple times before the holding two keys part entered into toner select mode, but it finally worked and I was able to reset the toner cartridge!

You will need to find the tech manuals to do that. The information is closely guarded so that companies cannot play with the counts to save money. Either get accounting system for the printer or manually pull counts every month.

Could also set up User Authentication, allow Public User to have color and B&W capability without login. In this way just print the counter for access codes and look at Public User count. This count can then be cleared at anytime.

I have tried every method I can find for resetting the waste ink counter and cannot get any of them to work (I wonder why there are so many). I have an iP1600 so can someone give me difinitive instructions on how to reset that counter? I currently have the green light go off then the amber light flashes 8 times, then the green light goes back on and the cycle starts again. It does not seem to effect printing so I assume it is just another waste ink mesasge. I just have to keep clearing the waste ink message every time I print. TIA.

I have an older Canon MP495 and just replaced both ink cartridges with brand new cartridges. Now I am receiving the error message 'ink absorber full'. How do I reset the absorber counter please?

I have already purchased a new printer to replace my old one, but I hate to waste the ink in my old Canon MP495. I have several projects I could print out to use up the ink, then I will be a happy printer!

The ink absorber is not a user serviceable part. Try google for a solution. Note, after removal, cleaning, drying and reinstalling the absorber, the ink counter must be reset. Software to do this is probably available for download, but not from Canon. Other solutions might exist but nothing officially supported by Canon.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. We were able to remove the absorber and clean it. After putting it back into the printer, we tried several solutions to reset the counter. So far, nothing has worked. As soon as we turn the printer off and on, the alarm lights up again. We will keep searching to see if we can find some software as you mentioned. Thank you.

The waste ink absorber is a part inside of your printer that absorbs excess ink used in the cleaning and printing operations. Printing can be performed until the waste ink absorber becomes full. When the message changes to indicate that the waste ink absorber is full, printing cannot be performed and the printer may need to be serviced.

No thank you. I have already bought another printer and it is not a Canon. Shame on Canon for deciding when a printer is old and forcing a consumer to look for a replacement!! To be clear, my Canon printer was working just fine until Canon software decided I needed a new printer. I will NOT be your hostage!!

By resetting your Brother printer's page counter, you can avoid having to reset your cartridge's flag gear or installing one on a starter cartridge. Resetting the page counter is often easier than resetting the cartridge's gear as it requires no disassembly. On the recently released Brother TN-221/TN-225-series, the new drive shaft configuration on some starter cartridges prevents users from installing a flag gear at all. Thus, for TN-221/TN-225 starters, resetting the page counter is the only way to get a refilled cartridge working. I bought the Adjustment Program from 2Manuals but it keeps telling me there is a communication error. 2Manuals tech support said to disable all Epson r3800 drivers but as soon as I turn the printer back on they are automatically replaced. So I got a new maintenance cart from Adorama yesterday and the lcd says Install maintenance cartridge even when I put the new clean, empty one in.

The operating system is Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit.

I probably should have sent the maintence tank back to Adorama and asked for another one, but I (probably foolishly) reset the chip on the new tank after a few unsuccessful attempts. Any ideas?

I assume you have the 3880 maintenance tank resetter?

Regarding the adjustment program not connecting, you need to install the Epson 3880 driver on your system and add the printer before adjust wiz will work.

Pull the control chips and make sure all of your OEM chips are seated properly. Put all the control chips back on. Tape the control chips down (tape over the solder points at the base of the control chip not over the copy contacts) with a bit of masking or scotch tape. This will ensure that the control chip contacts the Epson chip and then it does not get stuck in the cartridge bay.

I replaced all the OEM cartridges with my new Cone cartridges and Cone ink after finding the missing MK chip. I think it might be bad though. I also pulled the control chips and made sure all the OEM chips are seated properly. Then I put a little bit of scotch tape over the solder points and put the cartridges back in. The same Error message occurred.

Walker, even though I put the OEM chips back on the OEM carts and put them into the printer, the machine still says to replace the maintenance tank.

So, I ordered a new maintenance cartridge from a different store - Office Depot. They said I can return it at the local store if it does not make the printer work.

This printer checks everything in order from left to right (left most cartridge, then the next, then the next, and finally maintenance tank on the right). Yes, I suggest getting OEM MK and PK carts. They are drop-in replacement with existing Cone Color ink so you will be able to use them no problem.
