I must say those devices look good.
I also used some USB dataoggers in Witzenhausen (for humidity / temperature). It seems these appliances are more and more wide-spread.
They are really handy.

Now the question is : is Utah willing to pay ?

Thanks for the feedback Ankur. That was very interesting indeed!

Well we would like to measure everything, including weather data of
course :-) But it obviously depends on the cost of the logging
equipment. At the moment it's looking like we'll only manage the
battery voltage...

I've also been chatting to another friend who is into this stuff. If
any of you are interested he has suggested two other options to look
at:

* http://tinyurl.com/dlvzcl

With particular interest in this one:

* http://www.ebikes.ca/drainbrain.shtml

Wind/solar PV energy fed into the battery would be reported as
regenerative breaking gains :-)!! It looks like a great device. Uses a
shunt and all.

If I may add a comment on the bike datalogger (http://www.ebikes.ca/drainbrain.shtml), it looks perfect, the only small problem I see is that as it is designed for ebikes, which lithium battery usually has a nominal voltage of 26V, the operating voltage range of this device is 15-100V... Hard to fit with the 12V battery that is currently used is Häusleberg, I guess. Would be however interesting to ask the manufacturer of this device if they have a similar device working at lower voltage (or an advice to give?).

Here there are plenty of data-logger. The USB data-loggers (the cheapest and easiest to use I guess) however only allow 1 channel to be measured (voltage or current), which is a bit limited.

Damien
