Hadoop Nodes Yum update

Hello Experts,

   I have 10 nodes running cent OS 6.5. Recently I have updated one data node(yum update) to fix some security issues. Still yet to do the same on rest of the 9 nodes (Halted due to some reasons). Now while running some test jobs, the data node (Updated-DN1) is getting excluded by namenode. I strongly believe, this would be because the node package/kernel Minor versions are slight diff due to the update. My questions are,

1. Do I need to fix this issue before proceed with yum update on rest of the nodes?(lil afraid that same issue could occur if do so)

2. Or the issue would be resolved if I update all the nodes in the same way.
