Exclusivity of the Title "Ameeral Momineen"  

Salamun Alaikum Wr Wb,  The title of "Ameeral Momineen" is one which is exclusively used for Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (a.s.). However, in history, we come across people who have usurped this exclusive title and conveniently ascribed it to themselves. Let us try to understand it's consequence in light of traditions...

A person addressed Imam Jafar Sadiq (a.s.) � Al-Salaam alaikum Ya Ameeral Momineen

As soon as Imam (a.s.) heard this he rose immediately � Stop it, this name is exclusively for Ali b. Abi Talib (a.s.). Allah has chosen him for this title. He has not embellished anyone else with this title. If anyone appropriates this title he will be a homosexual. If he was not a homosexual earlier, he will definitely become one after assuming the title. Allah, the Almighty, has referred to this in the verse:

إِن يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِ إِلاَّ إِنَاثًا وَإِن يَدْعُونَ إِلاَّ شَيْطَانًا مَّرِيدًا

They do not call besides Him on anything but female idols, and they do not call on anything but a rebellious Shaitan. (Surah Nisa (4): 117)

The person asked � How will the Qaim (a.t.f.s.) be addressed?
Imam (a.s.) replied � He will be addressed thus �Al Salaam alaika Ya Baqiyatallah, al-Salaam alaikum Ya Ibna Rasoolillah.
