The Hillsborough Arts Council's New Location & Grand Opening
The Arts Council held a very successful grand opening last month as part of Ladies Night Out. Many, many friends stopped by to enjoy refreshments and experience a delightful variety of teapots created by professional artists from the region. For all of you who might not have had the opportunity to come by and see our new space, please do!
We are now located at 220 S Churton Street, just two doors up from Weaver Street Market. The exquisite exhibit of teapots and serving dishes will be in our gallery until January 15th. Find a wonderful handcrafted gift while supporting local artists and your arts council. What's not to like? It's a win-win all the way around!

Office & Gallery hours are:
Tuesday through Friday 1:00 pm till 5:30 pm
Saturday 11:00 am till 5:30 pm.  
Jim Watson Concert
Jim Watson will again perform his annual holiday concert on Sunday, December 20th at 4pm at the Masonic Lodge in Hillsborough. The program includes his traditional songs of the season along with the popular audience carol sing-along. This concert is guaranteed to put you in the holiday spirit. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the Art's Council office or online here.

 

Parlor Concerts
The Shamrockers, Sunday January 17, 2010  at 4:00 pm
The Shamrockers will perform the first concert in the Hillsborough Arts Council's 2010 Parlor Concert Series, a series of musical concerts in historic homes. Come enjoy the Shamrocker's traditional and modern Celtic music at 4 pm on Sunday January 17, 2010, at 104 West Queen Street, Hillsborough.
The Shamrockers are Clay Buckner (fiddle), Jack Herrick (whistles, mandolin, bouzouki) and Chris Frank (accordion, guitar), playing their own renditions of traditional and modern tunes, original compositions and tunes drawn from European and American sources. The lads are best known as members of the Red Clay Ramblers, and have been Shamrocking in one form or another since about 1980, when they first jammed as the "Irish Babies" at the legendary He's Not Here in Chapel Hill.

Tickets: $17.50, includes a reception. Seating is limited. Advance tickets may be purchased at the Hillsborough Arts Council's new location, 220 South Churton St., or online here.
The Andrew Paolantonio Quartet, Sunday February 28 at 4:00 pm
The Andrew Paolantonio Quartet, four young musicians will play a variety of jazz numbers, at the Ashe House, 144 North Wake St, reception sponsored by The Saratoga Grill.

Arts and Crafts Show Submission Deadline Looms

Anyone interested in applying for the Hillsborough Downtown 2010 Spring Arts and Crafts show applications (including photos and checks) are due December 15th. Applications are available online here.

The Samuel Obie Family
The Samuel Obie Family will hold a CD Release Event for Samuel Obie Family & Friends on Saturday, December 5th from 2-5 at Mebane's Chapel UHC, 421 W Union Street in Hillsborough. The following Sunday, they will be in concert at 5 pm at Ecclesia House of Prayer in Durham.

Greg McCallum CD Release Reception
Local Pianist Greg McCallum will hold a reception for the release of his latest CD Voyage A Paris Friday, December 11th from 6-9 pm at the NC Craft Gallery in Carrboro. The CD features the solo piano music of Debussy, Franck, Messiaen, Poulent, and Ravel.
The Youth Performing Arts Conservatory and ArtsCenter Stage
team up to bring you a play based on Dylan Thomas's classic poem A Child's Christmas in Wales. The ArtsCenter, Carrboro - 300-G East Main Street, Carrboro.
