in downtown Hillsborough
Here's a
link to our website
with lots more information
including the parade

also now have a Facebook
page for the parade.
With a goal of creating a
parade that dances and moves;
this years parade theme is:
'Eno River
Rhythms...'
Can you feel
the beat?
the
pulse of the river?
the heartbeat of town
flowing down
the street one beautiful
day?

Call
for volunteers
We could sure use some help. Please
consider signing
up to volunteer a little time...
it will be the most fun you ever had
volunteering AND we'll have a costume
or puppet for you to join the parade
if you like!
Thank
you all for your beautiful spirit,
encouragement and support.
"River
Rhythms"
Two Day Workshop
The drumming, dance and
visual arts troupe 'Magic of
African Rhythms' will lead this
exciting workshop that will
culminate with you
performing in the parade with
the entire troupe!
The first day of
workshops will be all about
creating the rhythmic waves of
the river represented during
the parade.
Workshop
participants will design Kanga
cloths which are commonly used
in East Africa as both
clothing and as a fishing
implement.
Hand
selected designs representing
different aspects of water
will be used to create simple
yet elegant Kangas.
The second day of
workshops will focus on the
use of the cloth in movement.
Using
our Kanga’s along with
traditional Kanga dance
movements, participants will
create a segment within the
flow of the river
demonstrating the rhythmic
qualities of water.
Song
will also be incorporated to
add even greater dimension to
the rhythm being created.
Dancers will be accompanied by
our drummers as they move
along the length of the river,
imparting waves of rhythm and
movement to the river’s
structure as a whole.
Saturday October 9th - 1:30pm
to 5:30 pm
Sunday October 10th - 1:30 pm
to 5:30pm
Where:
Orange County Recreation
Center 300 West
Tryon St. Hillsborough

Call For Musicians
There are bands that still seek
a few musicians for the parade.
If you can march and play give
us a call. Hand drummers,
percussionists, horns are all
needed! A trumpet player is
needed by a cool new second line
band. Join the parade...
