HAC Gallery call for artist submissions
The Hillsborough Arts Council seeks submissions
for
exhibitions in
the HAC
Gallery during
2011. Four
shows each
lasting four
weeks are
available as
part of the
Art Walk
during Last
Fridays in
Hillsborough.
These are solo
and/or two
person
exhibitions.
The selection
committee will
pair artists
or grant a
solo
exhibition.
Application

HAC Gallery seeks submissions for a themed exhibition
“Gardens and the Natural World,” to be
held in the
HAC Gallery
from April 22
to May 21,
2011. The show
is envisioned
to include a
broad range of
plant and
animal life
from florals
to botanicals
to landscapes
and beyond.
2-dimensional
wall art and
3-dimensional
items such as
vases, bowls,
plates,
jewelry and
garden or yard
decor (bird
baths,
stepping
stones,
stakes, etc.)
are all
examples of
acceptable
items.

“Traditional Crafts - Past and Present
Perspectives:
Quilts,
Woodcraft and
Basketry,” to
be held in the
HAC Gallery
from October
28, 2011, to
January 7,
2012. The show
is envisioned
to include
quilts of
varied sizes
including
standard and
smaller-scale
quilts.
Examples of
woodcraft
items include
furniture,
bowls, pens
and desk
items.

Jim Watson will
perform his
annual holiday
concert on
Sunday,
December 19th
at 4:00pm at
the Masonic
Lodge in
Hillsborough.
The concert, that
has become a
tradition for
Hillsborough,
includes some
special Watson
holiday
favorites and
a sing- along
set complete
with lyrics so
the audience
won’t falter
on those
second and
third
Christmas
Carol verses.
This concert
is guaranteed
to put you in
the holiday
spirit!
Tickets will be $8
in advance and
$10 at the
door.

Hillsborough Sculpture Tour call for
submissions
Deadline
for submissions extended to
January 17, 2010
The
Hillsborough Arts Council
will present Hillsborough
Sculpture Tour 2011 on
April 16, 2011 through
September 30, 2011. This
will be the first time
outdoor sculpture will be
exhibited in the Historic
District of Hillsborough,
North Carolina.
Guidelines
for Art
Sculpture
must be suitable for
outdoor public display. It
should be stable and
free-standing. Artists
will be expected to
install their own
sculptures the week before
the tour begins and remove
them the week after the
tour ends leaving the site
in its original condition.
Sites
for Artwork
All
locations will be within
walking distance of
downtown Historic
Hillsborough. Selected
pieces will be carefully
sited to enhance the
appearance and
accessibility of the art
and the site on which the
art is located.
Eligibility:
Open
to all artists.
