Hello everyone,
Join us on August 25, 2014 at 6:30PM as the Next
Gen IL project co-hosts a Civic Innovation Caucus with our good friends
at CivicLab (
civiclab.us).
The Next Gen IL project engages young people
(18-34) throughout the state to identify policy solutions to the
problems they face in their community. While the phrase "innovation" is
often passively coupled with technology, it need not be so. Civic
innovation requires minds that are unencumbered by attachments to
industrial era paradigms.
Here are some questions specific to hacks/hackers that could be a part of that discussion. Of course, we simply want an ideas to gift economies that with your
help, could be a part of the discussion:
1. How can we make IL government more accountable and transparent?
2. How can we protect journalists who refuse to give up their sources?
3. One role of the press is to be a monitor of our governments, with so many local newspapers closing, why can't we funding and incentives for more journalists and publications to replace them?
4. How can we get better access to our government officials for journalists?
Food
will be provided for the event but it will be first come, first served.
Please RSVP so that we can get an accurate count for food and drinks
(

Civiclab is located in the West Loop at 114 N. Aberdeen St. Chicago, IL 60607
