Hi,

I am Alie, the Game Director at Groupees.com. We run Game bundle promotions. And we would love to include Cyber Heist in our upcoming Greenlight bundle promotion.

Please let me know if you are interested, and then we can discuss this in a bit more detail.

Kind Regards,

Alie

Wow! That's awesome, and very quick!

We'd love to be a part of it, what do we have to provide for you? I can get you a current build of the game by tomorrow, are there any contracts we need to sign or something?

Thanks Alie!

Hi Jake,

Your
game would be part of our Greenlight bundle. People that buy the bundle will have access to the current build of the game, and would be encouraged to vote for it on Greenlight, so that they get a steam key when the game is released. You would also get 7% of the money raised from the bundle.

Here is a recent example of our Greenlight bundle, there are a total of 10 games:

https://groupees.com/bagb10

The Greenlight bundles typically sell around 5k units.

We have a slot in the next bundle which starts on Friday if you're interested in that.

Thanks,

Alie

Any updates on the bundle? How much are they charging for it? How are we planning to receive the money?

Hi guys,

Are we interested in doing this? Disney is about to enter alpha so I won't have time myself. Also, not everyone was on board with centralized IP ownership to HackNHide, let alone accepting money for the game. This is probably, the ultimate nail in the coffin for any future that this game might have had. Does anybody think differently before I turn her down?

Hi Jake,

I haven't heard from you in a while. Are you still interested in a bundle?

Kind Regards,

Alie

No problem Jake. The earliest bundle in 2015 will be in the 2nd half on January. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Alie,

I just had a talk with the Lead Producer on the team, AJ Dimick, who I've CC'd to this thread.

Our company, HackNHide LLC, was initially set up for distributing the game for free and was intended to be totally non-profit. Before we change the price on Desura, we'd like just a bit of time to look into what it would take legally to change things around and get our affairs in order. If it's alright, we'd like to hold on for a few weeks and try to shoot for a bundle in the beginning of 2015 (both for research time and tax purposes).

I hope this doesn't mess things up on your end. We're still really interested in doing a bundle, just not so immediately. Do you know when the earliest bundle is in 2015 that we could be a part of?

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask either myself or AJ. Thanks Alie!

There is no deadline, the next bundle is in 2 weeks but there will be more bundles if you can't do it before that. Let me know how it goes!

Alie,

That sounds good. I received a contract just a few moments ago, and I'm looking it over right now.

I'll also look into changing the availability on Desura, but I'll have to talk with the team about that. Is there a deadline that you need contracts signed and/or Desura prices fixed?

Thanks Alie,

Jake

I'm not sure why contractually didn't work. Did you get an email from contractually when I invited you? (2 days ago).

For the game to be sold in the bundle, it can't be available for free elsewhere, you would have to change that. Though, the bundle will help the game to have some more momentum on Greenlight :)

Hi Alie,

I'm new to using contractually, but after logging in I don't appear to have any contracts pending. Is there something else I have to do?

Currently, our game is available for free on Desura. We have intentions of changing this once the Greenlight process gains momentum. Will this be a problem?

Thanks!
Jake

Great! I've sent the contract via contractually. If the game is available on Desura it would be great to include keys for that too. Some folks like using Desura instead of Steam!

Thanks Jake

Well, to get on the bundle we need to charge money, which means that we need to take it off of Desura or change our pricing scheme. To take money, we have to all agree where the money is going and/or how it is distributed.

Even if we could agree on how or if or what we do with any money we accept, we'll have to maintain the game as more people play it, or at the very least pay for a dedicated server, of which money will have to come from any revenue we make. If anybody is willing to front the monthy cost of the server out of the goodness of their heart and take several hours a week to talk to the bundle people and even more time to answer emails and troubleshoot with players and even MORE time to fix whatever undoubtedly breaks (of which I have a relatively lengthy list I complied at I/ITSEC that you could certainly start with) now is definitely the time to speak up.

Several of us (including myself) are bound by NDAs, and can't work on it while employed. The good news is that all of us are employed, or at least were when I talked to everyone last about the IP transfer.

Even if we DID all sign the IP transfer and all agree on money and game distribution (which we don't), who would handle all this?

Personally, I think Cyber Heist has served its purpose. We're all employed: A+ job, mission accomplished. I'm happy with what's happened, but our horse is dead and I'm not willing to try to get it to ride any farther. If someone else has interest in taking this game farther, now is your time to speak up. I am 100% willing to sign over whatever rights you need to make it happen.

Don't we have any funds left from Imagine Fund and stuff for the server?
