I wanted to get an official update on our status with publishing the game from Disney before we talked.
We talked to the HR here about our options and she said she will get back to us within this week.

I second Kiran's call for delay. If we could schedule something for this Saturday after everyone's had a chance to talk to and hear back from their HR I think that'd be best.

I will double check on my end as well with Ubi. Last year they said they were ok with the possibility of a Steam release but things can change in the french baguette filled back alleys of France.

I have send an email to the HR regarding working on the game. I wanted to ask if our LLC stuff went through and if we release the game would it be Hack 'N' Hide releasing it or individual parties?

Not everyone has signed the release, so we'll have to do it as individual parties.

Because in that case I don't know how the guys on student visas are gonna deal with it. We cannot take any money from any other source. Am I right Kiran?

A problem (as well as 1000 others) bypassed by just releasing it for free.  If we do it through the game forge, then we don't pay for the lawyer if/when something comes up.  

To me this is by far the best course of action.  Let's get it up and then everyone has a steam game.

I agree. Unless someone wants to actually commit to cyber heist full time, free is easily the best option. Even while free, we won't be able to provide the support this game needs. The only reason this hadn't been an option before is that I'm pretty sure all of us were under the impression that you had to charge on steam, which doesn't seem to be the case.

I too agree with the free idea, that way, we all get our steam game, without lawyers from our employers breathing down our throats and more importantly we can get away with minimal support for cyber heist with the knowledge that it is, in the end,free.

I'm very pro free. I want to be able to say I have a game on steam. Video game bang wants to do another interview which is more great press. We will have a wave of publicity to ride again which is awesome. Honestly the best thing for us to to be seen, and have our game played. We should post the games accolades for sure. I want to see downloads over money. This is a launching point more than anything.

Congratulations to all of us. Our work is paying off. Everyone should be telling all of their co-workers about Cyber Heist being on steam and send them the link when it is up. We'll post it like crazy too. 

Let's just get it up! 😘

Today is indeed a wondrous day. For the first time ever, our team is looking like we all agree on something with regards to the future of the game.

I have a proposal. Since we are releasing it for free, why not go one step further?
We can make the game open-source and release the code for the public.

Pros:
* A ton of goodwill, press, publicity, etc
* We are always going to be the people who made the game. We dont lose that.
* The game gets tech support for free
* Students can use an IGF winning game for reference. We are pro-students.

Cons:
* May lose IP rights and potentially any money if a party is interested to buy the game. But money is anyway out of the equation and it doesn't seem like the game is going any further under us.

If you love something, set it free!
