Hello everyone,

It's time for another hackathon, and this time there will be an added bonus.

This coming Saturday (July 25th) we will be having a presentation by
Alex on an “Introduction to Application and Network Hacking”, the
presentation aims to demonstrate the impact that basic attacks can
have on the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of system
resources. The talk is geared towards developers and system
administrators who have never experienced or researched the concepts
of information security from the perspective of the attacker.
Concepts, tools, and techniques that represent current threats and
trends will be analyzed. Topics to be discussed include: SQL
injection, XSS (Cross Site Scripting), privilege escalations,
automated attacks, service exploitation, reconnaissance, anonymity
techniques, and more! If you are well versed in these areas and
already glowing with 1337-ness, bring a friend who isn’t!

Secure systems require secure development, configurations, and
policies. This talk emphasizes what can happen when any of these areas
are overlooked.

As usual, there will some of the same in terms of tinkering, hacking,
and good old fun.

The details:
WHEN: Saturday July 25
TIME: 1 to 6 PM
WHERE: FIU University Park Campus in ECS 280 (If we're not there,
there will be a sign pointing people in the right direction).

Hope to see you there.
