Hello all,
Not sure if this has ever been covered before, but I was wondering what Bookmarking website and/or app do you prefer?  I've really only heard about Delicious before but would like to know if there's anything bigger and better out there.

I'd like to have at least these features:
-easy way to sub-categorize
-has a Chrome app for easy access (ie: button on the toolbar)
-has an iPhone app for access/bookmarking on the go

Also a freebie I'd like to share: IFTTT is a pretty cool new app that creates "recipes" for tasks you already do on your phone and would like to catalog. Seems like they're still working out some bugs, but the BEST feature of all is this recipe: Whenever you add a new contact, it will automatically add the info on a new row in a Google Spreadsheet.

Thanks and Cheers,

Hey Ellie,

I've been a Delicious user for years for the exact features you noted below.
  • Easy way to sub-categorize [using tags]
  • Has a Chrome app for easy access (ie: button on the toolbar): Click here.
  • Has an iPhone app for access/bookmarking on the go. Click here.
I've read great things about Evernote but I've found it a little too robust for my bookmarking needs but it might be something to consider if you're looking for something new and different.

I'm also a huge fan of IFTTT to help automate some of the routine things I do while I'm on- and offline. One of my favorite recipes I use very often is:

If a star a article or blog post from my Pocket, then it will be added to Delicious and Evernote.

Good luck!

Cheers,
Earle

I recently started using dragdis (dragdis.com) with it's chrome extension.
It's a very simple drag and drop into folders you create.

I switched over to Evernote and use the Chrome extension in a way similar to Delicious and use the tagging functionality.  I know my links are backed up (free) to Evernote, and I get the benefit of the notebook features (which I seldom use)

It's pretty basic but since nobody's mentioned it, I'll add Google Bookmarks since I think it meets your 3 criteria (not 100% sure about the iPhone app though).

I've noticed my behavior has shifted away from bookmarking. I still have way too many bookmarks, but the main utility I get out of them is autocomplete in chrome's omnibox, and that they sync everywhere.

I find I rely on Pocket to save things to read, and Evernote to save content to refer to.

Eventually a lot of links go bad, and then I lose access to the content. With Pocket, and especially Evernote, the risk of losing content goes away.
