Hello boys & girls,

here's an email from me, after quite some time, *not* related to Startup
Island :-)) but to other ways of leveraging this network.

I assume some of your programs are using EU funding to finance your
operations. Since we are new to this scene :-)) I would be curious to
know if any of you think it makes sense to explore the potential of
these funds for our programs and then potentially to start a partnership
around this?

Cheers from sunny Zagreb!

Ivo

I believe Jon Bradford had his hands in some Accelerator EU Forum...  I think others involved were Seedcamp, Bethel Green Ventures, Startup Weekend and Startup Bootcamp. It's been a while though, but if I remember correctly, one of the goals was easier funding for accelerator programmes. Ask him..

Cheers!
L.

I had an email conversation with Fiona Allan from the Comission about this topic recently. She referred me specifically to the FP7 ICT Work Programme 2013 http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/ict/programme/ and suggested we "look closely" at the "Objective ICT-2013.1.8 Expansion of Use Cases" (pg 29 of the attached PDF document). This is a completely abstract and obscure title (typical!) but a careful read has "HNE" written all over it (imho).

I don't speak EUrocratic well enough to understand the potential properly but I speak it well enough to understand what "indicative budget €100M" means ... so naturally I turned to you girls and boys who have been members of this esteemed club long enough to know the lingo better than I do.
So, hypothetically, we could organize all the organizations from HNE and apply. If it makes any sense, of course.

If somehting comes out of this you doodez will have to buy me beer!
If not - well it doesn't hurt to ask :-)))

Cheers!

Ivo

Hi Ivo,

We have won a couple of high-profile projects related to startups, prepared way way back in 2011 and 2012. We are kicking off the second one in September.

Also there are some pending opportunities.
I have you in mind for the next one right after BkVF.

All the best,
Aleks

Ivo,

EEF has never used any funding schemes; however, you are raising a good question.

The Commission is – right now - discussing a 130 m program for an  EU wide accelerator program.
