Dear friends, the new upcoming year brings us a lot of surprises. Some
of them will be known next week.
And now, I would like to announce what we will have in April 2013. We
will try to make something grandiose. We have plans to organize Kiev
Startup Week. As a part of this week we will arrange a pool of
activities, the quantity of which is about seven. About some of them
now we can say out loud.

Does anyone remember without which event we cant stay in April? Yeah,
right. We're talking about iForum, which will be held this year on 24
April 2013. I think there will be about 10,000 people. I can not say
for the whole team, but I know that this year some sections of iForum
will be larger than some Ukrainian industrial events. Also there will
be some speakers from Europe, USA and Russia. According to our
experience the English-speaking speakers at iForum are not so good
accepted by iForums audience, but in this year case, we're talking
about the stars.
We are thinking about holding a startup's and incubator's alley during
the iForum (see below why)

The second event will be the Kiev Pub Summit on 23 April 2013. The
concept of the event is drinking beer and socializing in a pub, and
most probably it will be the official pre-party before the iForum. Pub
Summits is a pool of activities that are hold by the team of guys who
organize the Dublin Web Summit (one of the biggest events in Europe),
together with local partners (in this case, these partners will be us)
to all the events these guys bring really cool people. Participation
will be for free, but the number of participants will be limited due
to the size of the pub, which we will book for this event, and
pre-registration is mandatory.

The third event is the IAS Summit (Incubators, Accelerators and Seed
Investors Summit), its a closed party of European incubators,
Accelerators and Seed Funds for about 100 people. The event will be on
22 April 2013and access will be by invitation only. Most of invited
people will be involved into other activities - so you can raise seed
rounds during all this week.Well, and thats why it implies the
possibility of the incubators alley during iForum.

The fourth event will be the Reverse pitch. We decided to try a new
format. Why should entrepreneurs to be presented to the investors? We
decided to make the competition of the funds. We will collect 10 funds
from Europe and Russia, which will be presented in a format (10 +5),
and entrepreneurs can ask the funds nasty questions and assess them.
We will collect good funds. And we promise a great atmosphere. The
participation will require payment. Previously the event will be held
on 23 April 2013.

The fifth event will be the master class of Rasmus Lerdorf. Do you
know him? He is the father of PHP. He will have a speech in the
Technology flow at iForum. And on the next day he will have a 3 hour
master class.Well, this is an event for developers. And actually we
plan two Master classes the name of the second speaker we are
keeping in a secret ;)

And we are trying to fight back from another proposed five events also
in this period, - not sure that the team will manage this all.

Thanks Jüri!

I believe we had a pretty simple document on the FB New Europe Startups group outlining regional tech events throughout the year - probably would be good to restart that for this year?

Cheers,

Ivo

Fyi Login, the largest tech event in the Baltics, is April 18-19 if I'm correct.
Steve Wozniak, some computer dude, has promised to keynote as I understand.

We'll probably have Latitude59, our Estonian annual startup event end of May.

Hope Seedcamp announces their '13 dates soon.

Basically I agree but the formats / purposes are slightly different. On TC Mike wants to list (as I understand it) "top" European events while we (I think) need a more exhaustive list of New Europe stuff.

But either way, yes, the FB doc can be a useful source for Mike.

He is not on this mailing list but he *is* on the New Europe Startups list, so if we (re)generate the doc there we can directly ask him whether it's useful to him and what's the best way to move forward

Cheers,

Ivo

Yes, that, but let's not duplicate the work Mike Butcher is doing to list and coordinate all the European tech events on TC - let's join forces instead. If the FB shared doc is used by all, Mike could use that as main input for publishing it regularly on TC. Is Mike here?

Best regards,

Jüri

Ivo, the best option that I can think of is to do something in Croatia during the summer. Maybe organise something like a meeting during a weekend, mixing business & vacation, somewhere on the Croatian coast.

We can meet at an event, but there will be a lot of stuff going on around us and I guess we might get distracted :)

Agree with Bogdan, we need some quality time together:)

I just had a look at the events on TechCrunch, and although I'm likely to attend some of them, experience shows that I usually decide last-minute, so can't plan too much in advance for a majority of them.

Great minds think alike :-))

Please find attached an initial proposal for just that - Startup Island,
June 13 - 16 on Hvar, Croatia. We're counting not just on your
participation but also partnership in organizing the event :-))
