Hello all -
Our ‘hack night’ meetup in March went well, so we’re going to do it again!
In March we had some folks in the room as well as online in Zoom, and the library’s zoom setup seemed to make that work out just fine and we could all hear and see each other. We had a wide-ranging discussion and had some show-and-tell. I showed a few mapping projects, and Greg Tracy showed off a quick API proxy tool he built to work around Madison Metro’s new API endpoint’s lack of CORS support - see https://github.com/gtracy/madison-metro-api-proxy . We also looked at some different data sources like OpenStreetMap, the Strava activity tracker heatmaps, UW Madison’s Data Digest document, and a few other things.
So, please join us in person or online on Thursday, April 24th from 6pm to 8pm in Pinney Library Community Room B, or at the Zoom below.
There is no structured agenda or scheduled speaker. We’ll play it by ear and see what folks who show up want to do. It might just be more conversation around tech and data, or people working on their own, or a couple of folks trying to bang out a quick piece of code that evening, or maybe all of the above!
Meetup has been bought out by private equity and at some point I imagine we’ll stop using Meetup, though at least for the next couple of months we’ll keep creating events on Meetup for anything we do.
